- Johnny Depp as Elodin, that is a great call
- Natalie Portman as Denna, another great call
- Alan Tudyk as young Kvothe's dad
- Aaron Johnson as Ambrose
- Ben Barnes as Bast
- (in a couple of years) Chloë Grace Moretz as Devi

I have a pretty strict rule of not seeing the movie of any book i've loved, or reading the book of any movie that i loved, it can ruin both if one is terrible. I made this rule in highschool and have since brokenit twice; first to read Chuck Palahniuk's Fight Club, which turned into a very pleasant surprise! So i broke it a second time and read Eragon; i love the books but have never been able to watch the movie again, so rule reinstated.
However!
Wow natalie Portman as Denna, thats so much better than who i had in my head! The Denna in my head as i was reading is closest resembled by Tawny Kitaen (around "The Bachelor Party" days, rather than Hercules the Legendary Journeys days).
For Wilem the man i was imagining in my head is pretty much a dead ringer for you Mr.Rothfuss!
Elodin in my head was a mutant cross of Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka and David Tennant's Doctor.
Curse me for fool but i cant currently remember the name of the head of the University, however Dustin Hoffman fits quite close to how i imagined him.
Actor wise i cant think of any more that match the picture in my head and i agree that Joss Whedon would be the perfect director and screen play writer for a movie adaption.
I'm sure i'd be happy with any actors as long as they arent from the cast of any Twilight movie. Or Will Ferrell
And i'd definately break my rule to see it.

I think maybe Lucas Grabeel would be good as Kvothe. I just saw him in the series "Switched at Birth", and he does really good with red hair.

I know I´m late, but the girl who played River Tam in Firefly was who I instantly thought of for Auri when reading the book.
