Your books are awesome, to say the least. Any word on the status of book three?

I am a bit afraid to ask but still brave enough to do so… When is book three coming up?! :-) The first ones were fantastic (and I want to thank you for that!!!) and I sold a lot of them to my fantasy-readers in my shop, and now they want more!
May 2012 be a year full of good surprises and reasons to be thankful !

I just picked up the book this past week, and I’ve only managed to put it down now to check out your website. I just read this post (after reading your interview, which said that the books would come out within a year of each other… which my relatively futuristic vantage point, I naturally found this statement to be confusing) and I think that I can speak for most of your fans in saying that I appreciate the work you do enough to wait. I want the work to be your best, and I want you to feel proud and accomplished upon publishing the tale. Taking an extra 20 years would be a lot better than going all George Lucas on the project.

That being said, I also want you to know that you are NOT letting us down. You have faced some important obstacles, more important than those of Kvothe, as of late, and you have every right to tend to them.

I don’t care if it takes extra time to write book 2 and 3. I haven’t read fantasy books for a long time because most authors have had flat characters with an algorithmic plot/character development. These books brought back something I thought was lost to my childhood: blissful obsession. I can’t get enough of the book. I am currently halfway through it and the pangs of seeing “Epilogue” at the end of this book frighten me. Regardless if book 2 and 3 are delayed, then end is coming. This sucks more than anything. Delaying the books, delays the end. This is fine. The day I no longer have a book to look forward to in this series…well… I don’t want to think about it. I like anticipation.

Okay, i’m 3/4 of the way through book one, and it’s absolutely amazing. I love it. I can’t wait for book two, keep working on it! The storyline and the characters and just the whole world you’ve created is just brilliant, and it’s a great inspiration to budding fantasy writers like me.

But please don’t give up on writing book two!!

Ps, two things:
1. I wish the University really exsisted. I would much rather attend there than school.
2. I am totally in love with Kvothe. I also wish men as intelligent as him really existed.

Dear Pat,

I’ve gotten used to waiting for genius. Rather than turning out mediocre books at a blink, I really prefer it that you make double sure each word is perfect. That is what I appreciated the most about your first book. I’m looking forward to “Wise Man’s Fear”.

Dear Pat,

I’d first of all like to say thank you for working on these books. The Name of the Wind was a true pleasure to read and I keep finding myself coming back to it for seemingly no other reason than it was INCREDIBLE. So I cannot wait until book two has hit the shelves but I also understand that writing isn’t simple and revisions are even harder. So again I must find the time to tell another favorite author just how much I enjoy their work.

True artists cannot be rushed.
“The name of the wind” in my opinion, was the work of an true artist.
So, you cannot be rushed.
Anyway, winter seems to be the time for depressions.
cold weather, cold hearts, at least, that’s what it seems like.
