Pat, you didn’t miss much this year. Last year was great, this year not so much. (After going for 9 years, this was the second worse year – only eclipsed by what I call “The Sam Jackson Incident”) All those people will be back next year, and the year after, ad nauseum. So don’t feel sad. Now you have something to look forward to all year.

I live in San Diego very close to the convention center. I was sad to find out that you would not be attending. I hope that you will be able to attend next year and that I have the opportunity to meet you. The next book is scheduled to be out just a month after my birthday. The wait is agonizing! Pooka~

The real reason Pat isn't going is because he understands the subtle dynamics and risk of what I'll dub the 'awesome-bomb'.The awesome-bomb (or A-Bomb for short) is a weapon of unsurpassed coolness. With Joss Whedon, The Guild AND Dr. Horrible crew in attendance, as well as various web-comic artists, the levels of awesome are already in the red.The Patman knows that adding his own considerable aura of awesome into the mix will trigger a chemical reaction in the awesomic-matrix that will reduce San Diego to a bubbling toxic wasteland. Pat's selflessness is not only a pure model of restraint, but a valiant sacrifice to thwart the legions of chaos.Yeah.In all seriousnessnessity, Pat, that's a tough break. Well, you can go to San Diego next year... think of me, I live in Italy and probably I'll never go to San Diego :((But in my city there's one of the most important Comic Con of the Europe, so I can survive... :P )Anyway, maybe next year you can go to San Diego <>with<> your just_married_friend... wouldn't it be great? ;)

Most of those webcartoonists will be there next year, and with any luck so will Joss, and you’ll be the toast of the show because you’ll have WMF, hopefully.I don’t think your friend’s wedding is going to be an annual event.

When i was in middle school i forgot that very same permission slip once.For some reason the teacher was mad as hell at me. Probably because she had to stay behind with me as the others left.But as soon as they left she was in a good mood. Thinking about it, i guess it was probably just a show, I mean the field trips cant be that fun for the teachers having to watch a bus load of excited hyper kids. I enjoyed the day as well but i can't remember why.errr..... My point....Seeing a good friend u havent seen in a while beats a convention any time. Well except maybe if u meet them at a cool convention... Nah its just not personal enough. but of course you could tell my point from my story....
