i don't like all the english covers. i might think else about them if i didn't see the german one first ^^° they're not that bad :P
hm, maybe the first one was the best of all three variations. i think, the best are from germany and france. i bought the book in german, but i don't like the translation. so, i want to buy it in english. the uk cover impressed me, but i wanted to read pat's own words and not an BE translation^^. As i was searching for the us cover i was confused by all the cover versions and i found the french one (le nom du vent), too, which just let me think: damn! i can't speak french..

you all are (with high possibility) owners of the us book and so i wanted to ask some question here:

how does the us book look without the dust jacket?

is the look/size different from the other versions?

i am not sure if we have the last cover version in hardcover here in germany, because amazon shows just the cover of fabio.
so, i might take the risk and buy this one if they are same-looking underneath :D

have anybody else an idea to solve my problem?

i ask my question here, because i don't know where might be a better place to post them (and i don't want to bother pat with such annoying questions..)

thx to all of you! :)
---------------------------------------but if pat will read this anyway :

dear pat,

you really touched my creative mind. in recent years i couldn't see a blank sheet or a pencil. my school wasn't really in art and let us concentrate on languages an science. but now i am a graduate and hope getting accepted at an art college. i want to draw the characters, i want to write. just what i like and not what others want from me to do or to be.
it wasn't only your book, it was your story. in particular, your devotement/dedication (don't know the right word :P) to your mother.
I read the book keeping this in my mind, feeling your love for fantastic worlds in every sentence.
(maybe i will be a book illustrater later, i wish there would be more covers drawn with love and by illustrators who know what they are drawing for, not such who never read the books. i like covers in olf-fashoined ways like the artwork of Trina Schart Hyman or Kinuko Y. Craft ("The Lady in the Meadow") - awesome pieces!)

Thank you for easing my blockade.

I can say the cover is really what drew my attention on the book.I'm so glad I saw it otherwise I would've missed what is probably the best book I've ever read since the Harry potter series and The Sword of Truth Series.
I only wish it was released sooner in France, but on the the hand I won't have to wait as much as you guys for the release of Wise man's fear ^^
Thank you Patrick Rothfuss, I had the best Christmas ever!
Keep up the good work.

Leave it to the French to find the sexiest cover. I've been saying for some time now that such a badass awesome story deserves a badass awesome cover.

Also, you should hold a fanart contest sometime. Yessss...

Personally I'm French and I don't bother with buying French versions anymore. Buying books in French is no easy feat. First, we never have hardcover because the books would be too expensive. Usually what happens is that what you pay for a hardcover version in the US is what we pay for a paperback one, hence what you pay for a mass paperback version is what we pay for a paperback version. Furthermore unlike in the US where you can have huge discounts for new books, in France there is a law which limits discounts on books at 5% at ALL TIMES. So yeah, the cover is awesome, I actually like it better than the American one, but I got my copy more than a year ago for 6€ shipping fees included and I certainly don't wanna spend another 30€ however awesome the book is, could buy a lot more books with this huge an amount.

@Brandy: " Le Nom du Vent" is the exact translation of "The Name of the Wind" in French.

Name: Nom
Wind: Vent
Of: Du [De+Le]
