In my humble (5 Gaiman-Day units) opinion, that was the single nerdiest things you've said on here. How much of Burkhardt and Lindy have you really read?

So, I’m finally posting a comment…not much for posting comments…
Do people really care what I have to say?
Anyway, I shall forge ahead into uncharted territory.
Like Jake, I’ve been in love with The Name of the Wind for a while now (Can you truly be in love with a book? Of course you can!). The affair has been going on for about a year and a half now. I’m now on my third reading! And the blog has definitely kept up my spirits while waiting for the next installment. You are a card, Patrick. Are you by any chance a Gemini?
I’d just like to tell the story of how I came to read The Name of the Wind.
I’m not, by nature, a Fantasy reader (the closest I’ve come is reading the Dark Tower series by Steven King). And, I have to say that I like free things. When you attend any kind of conference, they’re always giving away free stuff (mostly crap that goes directly to the landfill). In 2008, I was working for a company that manufactures sustainable kids furniture and was asked to attend the American Library Association’s conference in Anaheim, CA. All I needed to do was man a booth with samples of the furniture and promote it to interested librarians, easy! Did I mention the fact that I LOVE books? No? Well, I LOVE books, the smell, the feel and, of course, the stories: fiction or non-fiction. However, I’m kind of a snob when it comes to the types of books I’ll read (I was currently in the middle of reading anything that won a Man Booker prize).
With the conference coming to an end I had discovered all of the publishers in attendance were giving out FREE BOOKS! I imagined myself giddily running (well, not really a full-on run) up and down the aisles grabbing free books. In reality however, I nonchalantly cruised down the aisles perusing each publishers’ offerings; but I was secretly scanning to see where they had placed the free books. To my dismay, most books were clearly written for children or the subject matter was not to my liking; I was not going to take something I wouldn’t read. I did, however, take some books for my best friend’s daughter. But just when I thought I wouldn’t find a book for me; I passed the DAW Books booth. I was intrigued by the subject matter (I think there is a secret part of me that was activated upon entering that Sci-fi/Fantasy booth) and how they published: their “commitment to discovering and nurturing new talent”.
There it was, The Name of the Wind. It was substantial, even for a paperback. I couldn’t take my eyes off of the cover. And it was the only one on the “FREE” table. So I grabbed it quickly and read the blurb: My Name is Kvothe….
I took it with me… I had to-it was in my hands for way too long.
I read almost non-stop until it was finished. I was spent, emotionally and physically.
Thank you Patrick for a wondrous character and fascinating story.
Thank you DAW Books for giving away free books at conferences.
And finally thank you to my former employers for sending me to meet Kvothe.
By the way, I no longer take free crap just because I can…

I really don't know how someone can
measure the coolness. What I know is that The name of the wind is AMAZING and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT Mr. Rothfuss is a genius (at least for me, I'm in trouble even whit this). I can't wait for the second book, but I'DON'T CARE if its taken too long, 'cause I'm sure its gonna be INCREDIBLE, so please take your time 1, 2 or 3 months o even one year it doesn't matter.

I really enjoyed the book "THE NAME of the WIND". However, I did see some resemblance to "Harry potter".
I wondered if this was intentional or coincidence. I'm not saying, by any means that I think he plagiarized, I'm just curious!
Mike

Now this. This is true statistical science. Or art. I'm not sure which.
It should be established in most 3rd year college curricula. Seriously. I'll get on that ASAP.

Before we can do this, however, I must ask: how does the Gaiman-Day coolness scale line up with the Whedon coolness scale you mentioned in your previous post?
