Calling all Browncoats.

I’m guessing that a large portion of you are Joss Whedon fans. Specifically, that you have watched, loved, and thoroughly geeked out to the the pure joy that is Firefly.

(Can I please assume this? I like to think of you all as intelligent, sensible people. If I discover that y’all haven’t watched Firefly, I will become ensaddened, and my little world will begin to crumble.)

Alright. Now that I know we’re all part of the same cool kids’ club, please let me direct your attention to THIS….

Yes. It’s an opportunity to see Serenity on the big screen, AND the money goes to a worthy charity at the same time. It doesn’t get any better than that….

Go. Reserve your tickets now. Spread the word.

Can’t stop the signal….

pat

P.S. For those of you that might have missed the boat, part two of the Dribble of Ink interview is up now.

Good Lord. Not only does this post contain a link to the second part of our interview… but it’s also a Firefly geek-out post!Pat, you never fail to amaze me. I was just watching Firefly yesterday, getting very depressed in the process when I remembered how awesome it is and how its so not awesome that the show was canceled. What a way to start the day!~Aidan< HREF="http://www.aidanmoher.com/blog" REL="nofollow">A Dribble of Ink<>

Thank you Pat! I’ve been trying to convince my wife to watch Firefly. She’s a big fan of yours. I’m sure that if you recommend it, she’ll have to give it a shot :)

So what is better than watching Serenity on the big screen? Watching it on the big screen at a theater that serves beer and wine. Oh yeah.

First, I loved your book. Awesome interview as well. But…I despise Joss Whedon, and especially despise the fandom he has spawned. I was actually disappointed when I learned you were such a fan. So, traveling well within jerk territory, I thought I’d just let you know that Whedon’s work is NOT one of those universally loved things. Of those things, I’ve only discovered two:1) The Muppets2) The film Office SpaceSorry for being a downer.

Sorry Zach, I didn’t mean to imply everyone was actually a fan of Whedon. I meant to imply that everyone *should* be a fan. If they are civilized persons, posessed of wit, culture, and style, that is. I used to be anti-whedon too. But then I saw the light. Maybe I’ll do a blog about that one of these days….

<>Firefly<> is indeed awesome, and although I greatly enjoyed <>Serenity<> I don’t think it came anywhere close to the stratospheric heights that <>Firefly<> reached.

It is hard to believe that there are people out there who don’t like Whedon. I guess the world would be boring if we all liked the same things. To me, one of the biggest crimes in entertainment history is that Joss Whedon has trouble getting projects made and hacks like Soderbergh can barf up incoherent crap like Ocean’s 13 anytime he wants.BTW, I just bought Name of the Wind on amazon and am eagerly awaiting it’s arrival. The reviews make it sound awesome and you are a Whedon fan to boot!Ann

Pat, just finished your book (best and most original thing I’ve read in a long while, by the way)and I have to say that there were moments when I thought, “I’d bet money that Patrick’s a Whedon fan.” Firefly has been a pretty rigid standard for all forms of story-telling for me since it first showed up, and I’m sure Joss would be enthralled with Kvothe’s tale.

Jason, Damn. There’s a pipe dream. I would shit a solid gold brick if Whedon read my book. pat

I love that you are a Joss Whedon fan (and particularly a fan of my beloved firefly). It just makes me like you even more – if that was even possible.

the means by which i determine who [/whom? i’ll leave that up to the professional wordsmith] will be admitted into the elite inner circle of my social favour involves but a single question:do you like joss whedon?<>“Maybe I’ll do a blog about that one of these days….”<>school them, oh schooler of the unschooled.

I realy like firefly as well, although I haven’t watched all of it… yet.Joss Whedon’s awesomeness aside, I just noticed that behind you, on the black board, you have a map of The University. Could you maybe put it on the site? Please?

OMG!! I love fiefly! And I hardly know anyone else who’s watched it! That would be so sweet if the director (Who I actually did not know, being too young to watch Pan’s Labyrinth) did a movie for this awesome book.
