Spring in Wisconsin

Today is April 29th. It is two days away from Beltane.

Today I made a snowman in my yard.

A careful observer will note that Sarah’s lips are wet, and her cheeks are pudged out. That’s because she was eating a carrot. (You can see what remains in her hand.)

I told her that wasn’t a cool thing to do. Eating a carrot right in front of the snowman you’re making is rude, and just a little macabre. But, as always, she didn’t listen to me…..

Have a good day everyone.

There is a puzzling absence of snow in that yard, given the size of that snowman. Or did you use up all the snow for the snowman? In Milwaukee, it’s not quite as bad as that.

This is both amazing and sad… fortunately we didn’t get any of the promised snow down here by Milwaukee, so our spring is still on track (if chilly).

The snow is all behind us. We got about four inches that melted away a bit in the later afternoon.

Big snowman!:] I haven’t made one of those in years, and it’s terribly sad considering I’m only 17.I must admit, however, that when one is made it’s only tortured. I just end up kicking its head off or what have you. T_T Tae Kwon Doe instincts have taught me to consider all foreign objects that falsely partake the form of man should be destroyed. [[actually I don’t think that has anythign to do with TKD whatsoever, but I feel I need an excuse:/ ]]Great snowman :]

All the snow is already gone just a few short hours after you made that snowman.Because it was snowing like a beast the day before yesterday. And today it’s bright, sunny, and warm. And eating a carrot in front of a snowman is the cruelest form of the “Got your nose!” game.

I am jealous. I have never made a snowman. The closest I’ve gotten is a knee-high-at-best farce. I just haven’t had the oppurtunity. It just doesn’t snow in Alabama. It’s also strange that you have snow – lots, from what I can tell -and we Southerners are all running around in shorts and t-shirts.

Pity us poor Australians, at 2228m our < HREF="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Kosciuszko" REL="nofollow">highest peak<> is but a bump on a ridge. We do actually have snow in Oz. We have more area under snow than Switzerland (I know where I would rather ski), but we don’t have any big population centres in areas where there is anything more than the occasional rare dusting.

I built a snowman once. called him pedro. I loved that damn snow dude. we had three days of getting to know each other. the relationship was a bit cold to start of with but we soon warmed to each other….and then the bigger boys came. it was twenty minutes of the kind of carnage only seen in rambo movies and whispered about at halloween. I was as broken as pedro after the assault. It left me hollow inside and the sight of the mearest drop of snow left me shaking and retching. so much so I moved to spain for ten years. I only mention this because you’re snowman looks scarely like pedro. so please, please, please, beware of bigger boys!!!

Sounds like the beginning of a ghost story. “You better not eat that carrot in front of the snow man.”“I will and I shall!”“If you do…you’ll make the snow angry.”“I do not believe in your tales! Om nom nom nom”*Later that night*Thump thump thump. <>“Saaaaaaaraaaah. Give me back my nooooooose.”<>THUMP THUMP THUMP.<>“WHEEEERE IS MY NOOOSE SAAARAAAAH?<>

At least Sarah wasn’t eating a snow cone. That would have been blatantly taunting the snow creature. One can only imagine what kind of horrific beating the beast could mete out with those tiny twiggy arms.

Three cheers for global warming, hmm?Very nice snowman, at any rate. Ok, here’s my snowman story. This happened a few years ago, but it still makes me giggle. At our last apartment, there was a courtyard that all the apartments shared. There was a back door in the kitchen to get to it. One winter we got a really nice snow…the perfect kind of wet snow for playing in. My husband and I out and built a HUGE snow man. He had to be 7 ft tall. We named him Bob, like the in the book, “A Snowman Named Just Bob.” The next day, we got more snow, so we built Bob a domestic partner and decided to name him Ken, who was a bit shorter, but still nice. Some of the other kids had made snowpeople in the courtyard as well. Bob and Ken stood right outside my kitchen window and it was great to look out and see them. Unfortunatly, Bob and Ken were the victims of a hate crime. Only a few short hours after we finished, they were attacked by some of the older children in the apartment complex. I was in the kitchen and saw it happen. I fling open my door and go off on the kids. I asked them why they knocked over my snowmen. Scared the kids, I think. One of them said that they thought that they had been built by some of the younger children of the complex. I told them no, those were my snowmen and besides, it’s not very nice to go around smashing people’s snowmen. I think I did scare them. The went back home and all the other snow people were safe.

People who smash other folks’ snowmen deserve more than a little scare. I think it reveals something unhealthy in their personalities. I hope you spooked that sort of behavior right out of them…
