It’s been a while since I posted up a blog full of interesting things that have been happening around the world that relate to my books. So let’s do that today, shall we?
Here’s something that kinda stunned me when someone passed it my way: The Prague Philharmonic Orchestra performing a piece called “Arliden & Laurian” by Nicolas de Ferran, inspired by The Kingkiller Chronicle.
Yeah. That’s a thing that really happened.
The Guardian included Tak in its monthly write up about board games, and they had some incredibly flattering things to say, especially considering how hard it is to get your hands on a copy of it over there.
(You can buy it over in the Tinker’s Packs, BTW.)
And speaking of games, a Reddit user made a Name of the Wind themed Monopoly game a while back, and shared their design elements with the community. The folks at Tor.com got in on the action too.

That’s all for now. If you spot cool things like this you’d like to share, feel free to drop us a line in the contact form, and I’ll toss them up here in a future blog.
Best,
pat
P.S. Don’t forget we’re having a t-shirt design contest, and you still have a week and change to enter.

Will we be able to buy/play Tak at gen con this year?
Definitely! There’s a Tak Tournament being scheduled, plus we’ll have Tak for sale at the Worldbuilders booth.
Click to embiggen doesn’t embiggen :(

Thanks for that! I fixed it, so the click to embiggen should work.
I love the orchestral. Grand and sweeping and romantic at first, and then in comes the staccato, bright and sweet with an underlying depth, and finally the theme again, but darker, more melancholy. I had to replay it immediately on first listen and the more I have, the more it fits wonderfully with Kvothe’s memory of his parents.
Wow. I think there’s some signed books in that Orchestra’s future. That’s extremely cool of them to do.
That orchestral piece is gorgeous! Is there a way to buy the track?
Who would want to buy the Ctaeh and put a hotel on it? I admit, like Boardwalk it will completely destroy you for landing on it in the late game.
The Cthaeh should be more like Chance cards, but they’re all bad.
You have spoken with Cthaeh, you will now experience a great and far reaching tragedy. Also, do not pass go, do not collect $200.
I think Boardwalk should be the Door of Stone in the Archives because it’s the place Kvothe most desires to get into to.

Don’t forget the new Watch It Played video of Tak! https://youtu.be/FxW9Nk8139o
Esta noche cocine con “Arliden & Laurian” en el corazon…
Pat did you read the “fake Rothfuss” stories?
I like the word “fake” Instead of bad. Should correct my post :d
Hi Pat,
The Orchestral piece was brilliant. The conductors reaction to you mentioning him in this blog was really cool. I am glad to see that Orchestral music is around and still striving.
Is there any news on the Bad Rothfuss Challenge? or were they so bad…………They are unreadable(Even though they were all pretty awesome).
This may have been mentioned already, but I was watching the new season of Mystery Science Theater 3K this week, and while they were watching The Loves of Hercules, there was a scene where villagers were fleeing the city. As a horse-drawn wagon drove by, Crow said “Hey, it’s the Edema Ruh!” Interesting question: In Nightwish’s song “Edema Ruh”, they pronounce Ruh as “Roo”. In MST3K, Crow pronounced it “Ruh”, as rhymes with “Uh…” How would Mr. Rothfuss pronoun it.
Hey, do you know that the band Nightwish has the song “Edema Ruh”
Also, Tuomas is having a new group called “AURI”
I’d like to know how you feel about this as well :)
Well now the super mega fan part, it’s the first time I write here, but I’ve been following you for some years now. I also read a lot of the books you recommend on Goodreads and I want to say thank you.
