For anyone who is interested, here’s the details for the book signing I’ll be doing in Pasadena in a couple of weeks.
Saturday, January 17th. 3:00
Borders
475 S. Lake Ave.
Pasadena, CA 91101
As usual, I’ll be doing a reading/Q&A followed by a signing.
I should have posted up this information weeks ago, but the fundraiser and the holiday slowed me down. If you know anyone in the area who you think would be interested, could you do me a favor and let them know? I hate it when I get back from one of these signings, post a blog about it, and then five people make comments like, “I didn’t know you’re were going to be in my hometown!!!1!”
Back to work on book two for me,
pat

Oooh, that’s pretty darn close to me! I’m in AZ and CA is just a hop away. I’ve never been to an author signing before, but I’d so be willing to fly over to hear you speak. Are we allowed to bring the copy we already own (I don’t exactly have my receipt anymore) or do we have to buy a copy there?
Aw, Pat-man-doo, why don’t you ever come to the land of Pennsylvania? I’d love to see you in person. I’d love to hear whatever you talk about and to have some Q & A with ya, that would just make my month.
Whoa, when you said Pasadena before I assumed it was one of the other Pasadenas, like in Texas or Maryland or something… the Borders on Lake is like 4 blocks away, I’ll definitely be there!
Road trip! Anyone from SLO county going?
Be careful, Pat. I might come to say hi. Altho Andy already gave me a copy you signed for me :)>>-Kiri
Sweet! I’ll see you there!
Yay!>>This should be fun :) I’ll be there for certain, and may be able to bring some additional folks along as well.>>->Pierre
Does the publisher foot the bill for your appearances?
N: For some, but not for most of them.
I would just like to ask when will you publish the second day of Kingkiller chronicle?. I know my messange is not appropriate to be here sorry for that.>>A brilliant story maker you are.> >I want to be your friend, because you are the first writer who tought me how to cry and laugh albeit I already read so many books.>>I like that word albeit.>>Hope you can reply soon, thanks
Wow I know why you like Joss Whedon so much now. I watched firefly. And serenity. Too bad fox wont make any more of these.
Pat, COme to the Pittsburgh area sometime. You can hang with my buddy Jesus and I. It will be fun, Oh, BTW, I have that character ready in my new DND campaign. You are the Head Administrator for the largest library in the world. I am going to call him your name though.>>Also I figure I might as well warn you, My best friend’s GF preordered the next book for him for christmas. In a slightly tipsy frenzy, he declared that if you somehow managed to let him down with this book, the will come to WI and sacrifice you beard to the Literary Gods.>>my verification word is “borit” teehee
*your beard*>>I made it sound like he would sac you, sorry.
Dude: I am there. I drove by Pasadena last night, and am back in NorCal, but I’m that much of an author-signing-whore, (and unemployed), that I am going to come back down for the reading. I lived in Pasadena for seven years, and I know zactly where you’re going to be. And right on.>>I’m coming down 101 from the San Jose area if anyone wants to hop a ride.>>Jules
Aren’t you all the lucky ones!>>Pat, after the release of book two you should come to Germany as well, preferably to Aachen. It’s only a small town, but I live close enough to get there…. ;)>Hey, Klett gave your book that fancy bookmark thing, that has to count for something!
Still waiting for a Chicago appearance and now, thanks to the heading, I’ll have that Bugs Bunny tune in my head all day…
Seriously, the UK would welcome you with open arms. Maybe with Book 2? Make it happen!
awesome, thats only like an hour away, Im so going.
I definitely agree with Dairuna.>I’ll be there, if you come to Germany!>We’re the ones with the most beautiful book cover ;)>>Congrats for your book, waiting for the second one.
Aw man! SoCal! If grad school didn’t have its teeth in me quite so firmly I would make the trek down from the Bay Area. You’ll just have to do a reading in NorCal when book two comes out. Berkeley is juuust your kind of place, methinks :-)
Could it be possible for you to make a stop at Mysterious Galaxy in San Diego?
Man, I wish I lived in america now. norway is so… far far away!
I wish I’d known that Mysterious Galaxy was so close to LA when I’d made my plans. Unfortunately, it’s not _that_ close. It’s a hundred miles away, so I don’t think I’m going to be able to make it this time around….
Just thanks. I’m a college professor, and sometimes I get frustrated with my students, because they just don’t read. I don’t care what they read–comics, the news paper, blogs, just read! And then one of my “jocks” came up to me and said, you know, you’re right. Finding the right book makes reading, you know, cool. And he showed me a signed copy of The Name of the Wind. I, of course, read it and loved it. But, in my opinion, it’s even more important that I’ve seen that student with several other books and his grades have improved. I just hope you know that you make a difference in your readers lives. Thanks so much!
Yeah! Thanks for making the long, hard slog out here for us. We’ll put quarters in the weather meter to bring on the sunshine and polish off our copies of your book for signing.
Awesome new Pat, I am looking forward to meeting you. This should be fun.>>Brandon
How about coming over to Sweden for a signing? It’s cold and we don’t have anything of interest at all to visit or see once you’r here… Except our local SF bookshop, that is.
how about visiting>>O>>H>>I>>O>>like the dayton area>>please
This makes me cry. The one time you are actually in my area, I have to be in another state working. Im going to have to bribe someone to go in my stead now.
Pat, are you going to be anywhere else in CA coming up or is Pasadena your only stop? THanks!
Hey, Pat! Can’t wait to welcome you to our 80 degree weather. Thats right – 80 DEGREES! Should be a nice change, huh? Sooo excited to hear from Book 2. See ya tomorrow :-)
I’m glad I bought another copy of the book a few weeks back (my first one got sold for food in the bad old days). If I hadn’t read it and started wondering about book 2, I wouldn’t have seen that you’re coming to my area!>>See you… today-ish. :)
OH CRAP I FORGOT TO GO>>sorry pat
Well that was an embarrassing first meeting with anyone famous.>>I get there at five sharp, and start getting really nervous climbing the stairs to the second floor, where Pat’s signing near the scifi/fantasy section. I decide to browse for a bit, to give myself a chance to calm down. Ten minutes later, I’ve selected two books and head downstairs to purchase them.>>I’m the only person in line, waiting for either the register right in front of me or the register on the far left to finish with the customers they’re currently servicing. >>“Wait, I have a Borders card,” the woman in front of me says.>>“Are you on our e-mail list?” asks the cashier.>>“No,” she replies.>>After a brief silence the cashier turns his monitor to her, so she can check her personal information or something, I suppose. >>A moment later he adds, “Thanks for responding, by the way. A lot of people don’t, and it’s like, you know, I’ve gotta say this…”>>“Oh, yeah, I totally know. I always try to respond when…”>>They continue talking, but I’ve stopped listening, because –>>OMG that’s Felicia Day>>– I’m trying very very hard not to remind this woman of her name.>>It’d be okay. I bet it would. I bet this happens to her all the time. Anyway, she might have forgotten. You know, she could be grateful if I just yell her name out right now. She could – >>No. I managed to stop myself. I’m quite proud of this.>>But this struggle of will had a casualty: my carefully accumulated calm.>>And so it was that I ended up calling Pat’s signature “pretty”. That was one of five words I managed to utter.>>As I walked out, I passed Felicia, who was sitting with one leg hiked up over the chair in front of her and her hands around her cell phone, lost in her own world. Twittering.
