Signing In Taunton..

Sorry for the delay getting this information to you, but here’s the information about the signing in Taunton on the 26th.

I’ll be signing books and hanging out in the store from 1:00 until 3:00 in the afternoon. Then, for anyone who’s interested, we’ll wander off and find a place to hang out and talk. I’ll answer questions, and maybe do a bit of informal reading. Maybe something from book two…

Here’s the info for the Waterstones in Tauton, I think:

The County Hotel, East Street
GB – Taunton TA1 3LU
Tel: 01823 333 113

Gotta Run, I’ve got my Forbidden signing in 10 minutes…

I can already imagine you wandering off with over 50 fans in search of a place to hang out.
I can also imagine one of the 50 say: ”Hey, lets go to my place, I still have some beer in the fridge!’
And really don’t ask for the party that follows in my imagination now

YESSS!!! Thank god you’re coming to Taunton!

I was saddened to hear the times of your london signings because as much as I would have loved to attend I was/am in the middle of my exams. And whilst I personally don’t see the problem with skipping the physics exam I get the feeling that my parents/teachers/people who I’ve only met once but who seem to be inordiately interested in my future, wouldn’t be very hapy with me, so I refrained and lamented the missed opportunity to see you. But now you’re coming to Taunton; and not only is it a lot closer to where I actually live, but its also on an exam free day; life looks good (even the thought of more exams isn’t getting me down!).

I hope it all goes well in london!

word verification; catee like a goatee but it dislikes getting wet; people with these who attempt to take showers/wash their face have great difficulties.

Your Taunton will freeze before you reach the first marker!

Sorry. Stressful day brings out the bad humor. Have fun at the signings!

    Hi Patrick,

thank you very much for coming down to London – it was a very entertaining and insightful evening. Looking forward to reading The Wise Man’s Fear!

A part of me feels that you posted this update as much to say that you had a Forbidden Signing as anything else

    WHAT?!
I take the part about reading something out of book two as a joke, because otherwise I would be utterly devastated for not being able to come to Taunton – wherever that may be. (Please don’t make jokes like that)
Hope the Forbidden signing was fun and you’re still alive, well and unshackled!

I have to stop reading your blog for a bit… you keep writing that you’ll be in Taunton on the 26th. And I keep getting excited because I don’t live too far from Taunton. Taunton, Massachusetts, in New England, USA.

Stupid New England with it’s towns from Old England… grrr.

The Forbidden signing was awesome! So was the Q&A… where we DID get to hear some of book two! Muwahahahhaha! It was way cool!
… and so was the poetry! I would love to have a copy of that poem, Pat! :-D

    Hey Pat,

cheers for last night at the pub, I had a wicked evening. Just arrived back home now, only took 4 and a half hours this time.

Have a great rest of your trip!

I sold my car and house for cash and just bought Ye Olde Ship to sail my way to Taunton. Avast! (whatever that means).

Can you even get to Taunton by sea? Looks like I’ll have to pull into Highbridge and build a canal. Who has any large digging equipment I can borrow? Where’s Teddy Roosevelt and George Washington Goethals when you need them?

Ah…..the joy of an author who isn’t a complete dick…
I have no doubt that you enjoy your fans almost as much as writing itself but always remember books are more trustworthy than people

I’m all for world travel and all, but frankly I’m just sad that you’d go all the way to Amsterdam and not be able to find a way to get yourself down to Texas, where you are just seriously loved.

what i really want to nkwo is what happened to Edinburgh….are you still coming or do i have to burn down every bookshop just cause they won’t invite you? Do i skip an exam or riot?

  20. Sailor Matt
    Posted May 23, 2009 at 12:34 AM | Permalink

When in doubt, riot. The riot is similar to the slow clap, however, in that if no one else joins you, you just look foolish. One person who’s rioting is really just crazy. Two dozen people rioting can evoke the “mob mentality,” in which no one person is really responsible for their actions.

    Please, everyone, riot responsibly.

I had a disturbing email from
Amazon today that my pre-order was cancelled, because your book was no longer going to be published, please say it ain’t so and then give them hell for making me cry.

Good luck with the signing in Taunton, Pat – I won’t be there. The colleague who said she’d swap her shift for me changed her mind – so I have to work.

    *Sigh*

    Good Morning, Sir Pat!

It is early and I am delirious for having stayed up too late doing things for my German class. That being said, all I have to comment here is that I really appreciated the “bad humor” from Jim C. Hines.

“Your Taunton will freeze before you reach the first marker”

Sometimes we all need a little Star Wars humor. As bad as it is.

I am jealous of you, Taunton. Congrats on partying with this fine fellow tomorow. As for me, Pat, I am going to take a hottub and sleep in and hang out with my lady friend in a hottub, as school is ending and it is a half day. Maybe you can come over sometime and we can all do the same. Party it up. And have a book signing.

    Until we do, I remain:

    Respectfully Yours,

Taunton is only a two hour drive from here but unfortunately they make me work for a living. Booo!!!
Now who do I know in Taunton that can go set up roadblocks to keep you there until I get a day off?….

No comments about pigeons, forbidden signings, or Taunton, but I am very disturbed that an up-and-coming Buffyverse of anykind will not involve our dear Mr. Whedon. Outraged, in fact.(http://movies.yahoo.com/news/movies.reuters.com/quotbuffy-vampire-slayerquot-returning-big-screen-reuters)
Keep on with your fantastic and invigorating writing.

Since nothing of note has happened in Taunton since the Bloody Assizes, I don’t tend to hold out much hope for groovy goings-on, so you could have knocked me down with the proverbial feather when I got chatting to the nice chap in Waterstones and he told me you’d been there the week before. Although, since you didn’t actually condemn anyone to death by hanging (you didn’t, did you? I sense your fans would probably comply with any pronoucement you make – you may want to test this some time), history will probably gloss over this event. Stupid history. I hope my hometown treated you well, anyway, and good luck with the rest of the tour.
