Over the last few weeks, a lot of people have e-mailed me, asking if a summary of The Name of the Wind somewhere that they can use to refresh themselves before starting The Wise Man’s Fear.
I had no such thing. Nor did I really have any desire to write one. Not only do those brief narrative summaries always bore me to death, but I suck at summarizing my own book. My best advice, of course, is that if you really can’t remember what happened in book one, you should probably re-read it. Most of what’s in there is pretty important to the story, y’know. I put it all in there for a reason…
Still, a lot of people were asking. So I got together with Nathan Taylor and we did…
Well, just have a look. You can see for yourself what we did:
There you go folks. Share and Enjoy.

Pat, have you seen today’s Girl Genius comic? I think you’ll see someone very familiar! I love your summary, it makes me giggle, and Bast looks very handsome.
Hey, thanks for the info! I don’t read that one very regularily, so I wouldn’t have seen it if not for you’re comment. Made me think of the dream you blogged about some time ago, Pat.
A week ago I was finally able to pre-order my own copy of the WMF from chinese Amazon, since I’m currently living in Beijing. They say it will take one to three months for it to arrive. Well I guess, I already waited three years, three more months won’t make that huge a difference…
Looooved the summary by the way!!
Loved the books, love the comics but as LaMiss says getting the books here in China is difficult. Will .pdf sales ever be available?
Arrrgh! My world has gone crazy! Somehow Patrick Rothfuss is connected to *everything I like* from Penny Arcade to Joss Whedon to bearded men in kilts and now Girl Genius! What the heck is next? XD
w00h00..! My copy of TWMF has dispatched from amazon, and is sat at the courier’s hub waiting to be loaded onto a van and delivered tomorrow, and I only have 100 pages left of my re-read of NoTW.
Immaculate timing.
Sorry, just thought I’d share that :)
Pretty much unrelated, but…….It was absolutely incredible to be at your book signing in Seattle. I didn’t get to stay for the actual book signing part of it – high school science teacher who gets up really early and has a 4th grade daughter to get to bed – but I still loved seeing you in person and listening to the discussion.
PS> Did you by chance take the train to Seattle?
Hey, I went to the Seattle signing as well, but, alas, was unable to actually get it signed also. There was a shitload of people there. But, pat, you were hilarious.
y favorite part of the book so far was when kvothe was…how can I say this without giving away spoilers…when he was “tasting nutmeg and plum.”
Ps: what sound does a crocodile make?
*my favorite part
Read The Name of the Wind a few months ago, and am just starting on The Wise Man’s Fear. This was a great recap. <3
“He can brood for 40 minutes straight!”
Amazing… lmao on a Monday morning at work! Now that’s a first! Can this be put in print, please?!?
Classic. Though the urg to nitpick facts draws blood in my mind…wait, isn’t that an aneurysm? But anyway, classic.
Nate is awesome.
For those of you who just need a little refresher, the wikipedia page has an alright plot summary: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Name_of_the_Wind
Elodin’s panel cracked me up the most
Yeah. I got to “Watch how dedicated I am”, “The fuck?” and seriously couldn’t move from laughter. Thank you Patrick!
HaHaHa her under thing HaHaHaHa….
Haha! Fucking fantastic. Congrats Pat! See you Wednesday!
Thanks!! =D was perfect – but still hope to finish my re-read of The Name of The Wind before The Wise Man’s Fear lands in my mailbox!
So many quotbales in that comic, im tempted to wake up the friend who got me on these books at 5 am just to shove this under their noses. They would thank me. See? Terrible magics
Incidentally, after re-reading the first book this week for precisely this reason; the most important things that I forgot since the last time i read it were the two stories about the Amyr/Chandrian while Kvothe was still in Tarbean.
Hmmm… I didn’t read this post, so maybe I got this all wrong, but am I hearing people talking about re-reading NotW like it would be a BAD thing? Just this morning, as I received my shipping email for WMF from amazon, I thought “yay, now I can finally re-read NotW” because I’ve been savoring it, I’ve only read it once and I’m really looking forward to reading it again. Summary… pffft!
only read it once…pfffft!
I concur. The book should be read no less then thirteen times: One for each pontifet in Atur, and an extra time for the capital. I’ve read the book more times than is perhaps healthy.
Same here. Only read it once and rereading it again right now. Wow, what an enjoyable read! This book is really gonna catch on.
Wow! That’s brilliant. Thanks a lot to both of you. You make a great team. I love the picture with Ambrose and the candle. That sure wasn’t Kvothe’s brightest moment :D
I lovelovelove it. The audience commenting on the performance mirrors the story within a story structure perfectly, and it being a drama here in the first place ties in so perfectly with Kvothes Edema Ruh background. It’s so intricate, and so perfect, and I just love it.
A comic about a story about a guy telling a story. Awesome!
after i got the name of the wind off of a whim from amazon, i fell in love with it. i liked it so much that it was the first book that i got on audio book. i have listened to it probably 10 times since then…. this refresher still has great drawings and cute dialogue
I’ve been wanting to re-read Name of the Wind but, since we moved and decided not to unpack all the books this time, I have not been able to figure out what box it’s in :( Thanks for the “summary” Mr. Rothfuss. It made for a very good way to start the week.
The summary left me thinking, does “Kote” have a beard? I mean, sure, I guess “innkeeper” suggests that he has a beard, but… I must’ve suppressed it somehow, because I can’t remember reading that.
Maybe just in the play.
I love that you can be so irreverent about something you’ve worked so hard on. Bravo :).
LOL XD Can I translate it into Spanish? :D
<3
I was very happy to see you in Girl Genius today, it totally made my day. I even rang my boyfriend to tell him what I saw, even though he doesn’t read Girl Genius or NOTW. He is more the music type rather than the reading type…piano, guitar, violin. I’m dying for him to start reading but at least my house is filled with music. Hmm, I’m now wondering why I’ve shared this information. One more sleeps til book!
Speaking of comics, I was reading the new Girl Genius comic today ( http://www.girlgeniusonline.com/comic.php?date=20110228 ), and there was a Doctor Rothfuss (who looks a lot like another Rothfuss I’ve seen pictures of). Did I miss this before, or is this new?
Ha! Good catch. I had missed that, but it does look a little too much like him to be a coincidence, doesn’t it?
I was just on my way here to comment on that, but seem you got here before me! I don’t think it’s a coincidence, myself, but I’ll leave final judgment up to Dr Rothfuss himself. (Considering it IS the comic for the day before the book release, though, I’m convinced it’s on purpose.)
“I like Bast”
“You and every other woman in the world”
TRUEFACTS, kinda. I finally forced my best friend to read NoTW and Bast is her favorite character.
Wonderful summary Pat, making some fun of your own story, that’s awsome!
(Greetings from Spain, this was my first comment here, sorry it was this silly…)
mucho silly!
I know that you already have ample comments telling you how awesome your summary is… but it took me forever to finish reading it, I laughed so hard I cried. It was definitely a nice tough, however I am already in the midst of finishing “Name of the Wind” for like the 10th time!! I love it so much!!! My fiance and I have already decided that we need to buy two of “Wise Man’s Fear” as we’ve fought over the first one so much!!
Hope you having an awesome time on your tour!!!
If I print and bind this, then use it as a coloring book, would you sign it on Wed in Portland?
hahaha. if you do, I want a copy… for the… uh… kids.
Ooh! Ooh! Me too! I have no shame and still like coloring!
Do it!! DOOO IIIIITTTT! ^_^
Ya gotta make that happen, I bet he’ll get a kick out of it.
Best way to wake up ever.
Happy Opening Day Eve, Pat! Hope you’re doing well!
Can’t wait to start reading WMF!
– Hex
Lovely way to start a Monday, but I hope you had better editors for WMF – I’d hate for Kvothe to run “afout” of Ambrose in the book.
It’s “afoul” and thus perfectly fine, isn’t it?
the panel with Elodin rocked! I have to say I re-read the book and finished just about two weeks ago… I’m glad i did as it straightened some things out that I was unsure about since it’s been so long since I read it. I would really suggest re-reading NOTW before reading WMF… There is just sooo much to it you couldn’t have remembered it all…
Completely enjoyable, thanks for that! I just finished reading Kvothe’s adventures for the second time last week to prepare for the new release. Now why can’t preorders ship faster? Arg…
What a great response from Elodin.
This is genius.
Probably not the best place to put this, but : stores are breaking street-date on WMF. I’ve seen at least two people say they already have the book and I’m trying to avoid most of the WMF/Patrick Rothfuss threads out of fear of omg!spoilers.
Tomorrow is going to be excellent in any case.
Called my bookstore, they’re not even sure if they’re going to have it in tomorrow. And to think, this is a pretty big bookstore chain…
First. . . That was awsome! Love the Audience.
Second . . . DUDE YOUR IN GIRL GENIUS!!
Third . . . I wish you guys did these comics daily . . I would follow religiously :)
Hah!! “Underthing”. I’m going to laugh about that all day.
So WMF is #5 today at Amazon, but here’s something weird – it’s #3 in Sci Fi and Fantasy on Amazon, but the two books ahead of it are not in the top 10 for just plain old books. Oh – because those two books are Kindle format. Hmmm. So for actual PAPER books, that are fiction, Pat is #1 on Amazon right now. Don’t you love statistics? Also, maybe I missed it, but I can’t seem to find it AT ALL in the top 100 for Literature and Fiction.
Haha that “Look how dedicated I am” Is brilliant. I’ve read tNotW about 7 times and I cannot wait for WMF to be delivered on friday. I’ve been reading reviews when I should be working/sleeping I must admit.
This is brilliant! I love the art and Nate’s ability to tell the story.
BTW-Is the clay tablet in the draccus’ cave from the original story version before it was published?
Glad someone else noticed this…I thought I had forgotten something!
I think it’s in reference to the thing that the wedding party dug up and was going to reveal before they got destroyed. I could be wrong, but I don’t remember anything that might fit that description except the vase that the wedding party found and that the girl mentioned to Kvothe at the inn…
Yeah, I agree. What threw me off was that Kvothe never went to the “draccus lair” (unless you count the valley full of denner trees) and we never have absolute confirmation that the vase (I’m pretty sure it was a vase), or clay tablet, or whatever, was actually “broken” – do we? The people at the wedding were definitely destroyed. He never does go in the house though.
Thank goodness, I’m not going crazy! I just re-listened to the audiobook last week, and after seeing this summary, I was nervous it might somehow contain a different draft of the book…
I was thrown off at first as well (and I read the Trebon scene just yesterday). I think the change to the original story is intentional, as stories change when they’re told, as we see when Old Cob retells his version of the story at the end of TNotW.
By the way, the recap was great ;)
Pretty sure it was just a very terse re-cap of the entire Trebon scene. Angelina(Nina) and one of the Mauthlen(?) farm boys went under the house built on Borrow Hill and saw the vase/pot. It had Chandrian depictions on it. Not really related to the draccus.
There’s one more little change of the original story. If I remember correctly the posessed mercenary wasn’t killed by Bast but by the smith’s prentice, wasn’t he?
Kvothe speaks with Bast afterwards saying the smiths prentice took Bast’s credit as such, and they would all be dead if he had not attacked it.
My wife just made the comment…. “amusing……reminds me of MST2000…….”
wonder if that was intentional. Still, pretty funny. So who are the three observers?
I’m pretty sure I’m wrong but the guy in the headscarf on the left looks like the guy in the movie “Zardoz” who gets thrown out of the mouth of the giant head he flies around in. That was my first impression seeing the comic, ha ha.
Hahahaha, this is FANTASTIC! Though I realize my mental image of Elodin was… you. It’ll take a bit of mental gymnastics to start picturing him as a cracked Harry Potter.
13 hours and 22 minutes to midnight!
Are the three observers Kvothe, Denna and Bast?
Amazing! Loved Ben’s barrel donkey, and the dramatic doubling thing :P. You are thinking of it as a play, that’s for sure. Also: The draccus is very cute (and awe inspiring of course ;-)…), and everyone’s gotta love the (very subtle) Gandalf reference. One thing though, you’ve probably noticed by now/it takes a lot of effort and time to change it, but there is a typo in the 12th picture (where Ambrose gets Kvothe banned from the Archives). It says “as a rsult” in stead of result. Sorry to be nagging about it. I really shouldn’t because it is a really nice little comic. Very useful also in case people haven’t reread The Name Of The Wind.
“Watch how dedicted I am.”
“The fuck?”
Best part haha
Laughed till I cried. Thought it was great in the book when it happened, this reminded me of when a professor broke out the Skinhead Hamlet…
“[Enter HORATIO, HAMLET and GHOST.]
GHOST: Oi! Mush, get on with it!
HAMLET: Who did it then?
GHOST: That wanker Claudius. He poured fucking poison in my fucking ear!
HAMLET: Fuck me!
Skinhead Hamlet?! I’ve NEVER heard of that before – where can I get a copy?
Hilarious.
http://sub-zero.mit.edu/bakunin/hamlet.html
Thats where I ran across it most recently. I have seen a few Youtube versions, but I can’t say I ever enjoyed it more than when Prof McConnell read it. He was a Prof that Kvothe would have liked :)
There’s also Wikipedia for the rundown:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Name_of_the_Wind
This. Is. Awesome.
Is it just me, or does Bast look a lot like Alladin?
not just you. me too.
hehe.. Underthing
Amazing! I couldn’t stop laughing at the barrel part. Also, the ‘working the title into the novel’ thing. I laugh every time a movie or book does that.
Tomorrow…Tomorrow…I love you Tomorrow. You’re only a day away.
Of course, nothing productive will be done for two days, but still…Sacrifices must be made in the name of King Killers.
Just saying.
Also…LOVE audience commentary in the comic.
Heh.
Really is excellent. Anybody in Australia have their Kindle version delivered to them yet? On second thoughts, who am I kidding. If it had been, you wouldn’t be looking at his blog right now, would you? :/
This was hilarious. Just what I needed to tide me over.
Finally got my wife to read NOTW, so hopefully she can join in the fun soon. Yesterday was our anniversary so we found this old anglican retreat center to hunker down in for the weekend. Food, writing, James Bond Movies, NOTW… you know… the essentials.
If anyone’s interested in a detailed discussion about the series, we’re trying to collect discussion questions here for a discussion/form/whatev’ to interact with the book. We need to know how interested people are before we jump headlong into it. Not sure what it’ll look like or if it’ll take form at all, but lemme know if you’re interested.
PS – Pat, how long have you known Natan? College perhaps?
(sorry if the link doubles up. still working out the kinks).
*forum. my b.
Pat, thank you so much.
I’m a college student right at the end of my reading week, and I woke up this morning horribly depressed about having to go back to school, and dreading two midterms I haven’t studied for and a paper I haven’t written. This just brightened my day.
Midterms and a paper will not keep me from reading WMF :)
Bravo!
I don’t know how this week got away from me, I figured it’d be the most terribly long week ever waiting, but somehow it’s magically less than a day away now. I was supposed to reread the first book before this one. I remember the big things and some of the small things, but not the obscure… those are what I need refreshed. Those are the really important details that let you postulate on what’s to come. I need to be able to do that.
So. Should I put of Wise Man’s Fear for a few days so that I can read Name of the Wind? Or should I forgo trying to put together the finer details and just enjoy the rush of WMF? I feel like I’d be cheating myself if I just went ahead with WMF at this point.
you should read through NOTW.
I don’t know if it was clear in that post, but it would be a reread. Anywho, I’m thinking I really need to read it again. I’ve already bought WMF so it’s not like I won’t have it to read right away. What’s a couple more days?
no, it was clear. I was unclear. You should read through it again.
Freakin’ well done.
(Nice suprise to see you in Girl Genius today!)
Anyone else spot the misspelling in panel 12? I think it’s supposed to be Jakis.
I absolutely loved this, I’m in a state of pain atm, and now I have to work tomorrow, but you have both made today better.
I’ve been looking forward to taking march 1st off for only a few weeks to read your book and drink a copious amount of tea.
So for this awesome comic and the upcoming book, I thank you.
Will the audio book release the same day as the print book? I want to get it on Audible asap!
This was excellent.
I am hoping to pick up Wise Man’s Fear at midnight tonight, anyone know if any of the 24 hour type stores, such as Walmart, will have it in store? Or anyplace else someone in the Portland, OR area might be able to buy it tonight?
I’ve considered buying the ebook, as I do have a Kindle, but I much prefer to buy the hardback. If I buy the ebook, I’m just going to end up buying the physical book later.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks very much.
L’ed OL at “MEH.”
I listened to the audiobook while traveling the last few days, just as a refresher, and got home about 9am (PDT). About 11:30am a loud knocking woke me and guess what was delivered a day early? Yep, better check your doors ASAP if you pre-ordered from Amazon. I guess I don’t sleep yet….
BTW, love the comic summary! Between the audiobook and that, I’m set to go!
Fantastic! Can’t wait for the mail tomorrow!
The only thing that disappointed me was Ben’s eyebrows.
But still, you had me in stitches.
G’day Pat.
G’day Pat. One thing to say right here….Loved it!!!!! Second thing is that my copy of WMF is on its way to the Land Down Under!!! got my shipping receipt today. Are you coming with it??? (snigger)
…. you have freaking *got* to be kidding me! My Kindle just died! OMG. You have no idea… I had *two* opportunities to read this book early and decided against it, and I just plugged it in to make sure it was charged when it downloaded at midnight, and it just…. died! o.O
Ha! Thank you smartphones and kindle apps. I shall beat you yet, fate! XD
Long live the Hardcover!
I’m waiting on seeing if I get to go to a signing before buying the hardcover! So many noble causes and I just keep screwing myself over XD
I pre ordered the book on kindle and haven’t gotten it yet… do you know when it will be delivered?
I got it some time between 3am and 6am (I drifted off to sleep and it was there when I woke up)… so hopefully you have yours by now! :D
How cool can you possibly be?!?!?!? you now have your own character in Girl Genius!!! Today-web comics, Tomorrow- THE WORLD BABY!!
Meh…
Bravo! You just made my day.
This was awesome. I’m just in the process of re-reading my copy of NotW and I’m so excited I can barely stand it.
Off-topic: I just got an email from Amazon saying my copy of The Wise Man’s Fear just shipped!!!! I would scream if I wasn’t in a lecture room full of people!
It’s here! Amazon shipped it a day early, and it’s beautiful!
ohgodsohgodsohgods that means I gotta get home RIGHT NOW!
Psh. He met Denna ages before the bar.
I failed in my attempt to bribe a Barnes and Noble clerk earlier today, I feel like my teeth must be bleached white I need my fix so bad. Anyone know if Kindle preorders download at midnight according to your timezone? I am EST and fear that the book won’t start till midnight PST.
A lot of people are going to be very happy tomorrow…every time I realize that March 1st is really close, I’m overcome with joy x)
Can’t wait to start reading :)
I like the summary. Funny as usual =D
Very good stuff. Color me amused.
Looking forward to getting off work tomorrow. Wish there was a store where I could get it at midnight.
Speaking of coloring… This would make an excellent coloring book.
Hmm.
I like coloring.
scroll up. someone’s looking at doing that.
a clay tablet? I don’t remember that… and the draccus didn’t even have a lair… hopefully I’m missing the joke
…and this is why he is our Great Bearded Master.
Hey Pat !
Why didn’t you post an excerpt from The Wise Man’s Fear on your website ?
The prologue, or part of it, would have been really nice !
Plus, it would help prevent many of us from going crazy while we are waiting for our pre-orders to arrive !
Thanks,
al360ex
… still bored!
Oh, Kvothe, is there nothing you haven’t already done?
Love the summary, much better than Cliff’s Notes. Now I can pass my Eng. Lit. test on NotW with flying colors. Essay topic: Kvothe/Gandalf parallels in NotW. Gonna ace fer sure!
Thanks for the humor, Pat.
In the midst of skimming the comments, looking for something interesting, I realized a bit of truth that is both exciting and devastating: I’m taking off four days from work this week to travel to Portland to attend the signing, and coming back. I’m not going to have ANY time to read until like the tenth. This depresses Lord Zod
This is just flat out awsome! I am rereading Name of the Wind now to get up to speed for the new book and can’t think of a more innovative way to summarize it.
A+
Elodin’s missing a sock in the frame where Kvothe jumps off the roof.
Such blasphemy…
You mean the one that he stuck in the door to keep it from closing?
my level of excitement at this moment is almost too much to bear, especially considering I’m a grown ass man. I have my signed hardcover on order, but more importantly IT’S DOWNLOADING TO MY KINDLE AT MIDNIGHT! MWAHAHAHAHA!
FYI: I took off work tomorrow. I’m a 26 year old professional engineer and I’m taking off work to read a book. If that’s wrong, I don’t want to be right!
I took today off as well!
Thanks for the summary-comic! I am rolling on the floor of my office cracking up. Reread NofW? nah. I’m good. The summary was enough.
Way to BROOD!
My Kindle copy of TWMF just arrived via WhisperNet. I sense a major lack of sleep in the next two days!
what?!!?! I just checked my kindle and I don’t have it! It *did* get my heart pumping though…
Ok, I just can’t take it anymore. I’m going to go stick myself in the freezer. I need one of you to come thaw me out tomorrow morning, ok?
I would volunteer to thaw you out, but I think I might be busy tomorrow morning… I figure to be leaving the University about that time. =D
Sorry guys, I’m based in the UK so it was past Midnight when mine arrived. Didn’t mean to freak anyone out.
oh… well, I guess I can stop checking my kindle every ten seconds now. FYI: My thoughts are not merry nor kind right now. Curse you evil man that gets to read before me!
For all of you still waiting, I got the book at 12:23am GMT, not intending on reading it. I decided to look at the first chapter and its now 4:48am and I have to go speak to my lecturer about my PhD proposal at 9am. I’m going to be useless but I can’t put the damn thing down.
BTW: 12 Chapters in and its a work of art.
So, it’s a comic retelling of Kvothe’s story in the mythical style of the stories told about Kvothe (and fantasy stories in general) which Kvothe (and the writer) was undermining by grounding his fantastical reputation in simple (yet still slightly fantastical) reality.
It’s a sub-sub-meta meta recap!
“The fuck?”
Nice.
lol, “Watch how dedicated I am!” “The fuck?”
Hey, Pat, next tour you should stop at a city called Tacoma. It’s about an hour south of Seattle, and it’s…pretty weird. I think you would appreciate it…and it would make my commute to signings a lot shorter.
Guys and Gals… Patrick ALSO makes an appearance today (2/28) in Real Life Comics! reallifecomics.com….
Pat… Where do I sign up to become special enough in your world to get an ARC? ;)
Thank you SO much.
I (of course) read NOTW again past 3 days, but the comic is really fun to read and an awesome idea for alle the lazy folks out there, which skip reading your awesome NOTW more than one time ( what a shame ).
Looking forward for The Wise Mans Fear, and hope I can understand everything in English (I’m from germany, and I couldn’t work out the date of publication for the german translation). Does anybody know where to check?
Love the Conan reference. Barbarian I mean, not the O’Brien one. He didn’t get any honorable mention. Unless he’s like Kvothe’s great uncle thrice removed or something.
I am actually considering setting an alarm, taking a nap until midnight, & then getting up to read this book.
I have to go to work in the morning, people! Work!
I can’t WAIT to read this!
Just get the audiobook if you can’t re-read it all in time. The reader does an admirable job!
Just get the audiobook if you can’t re-read it all in time. The reader does an admirable job!
Cannot wait until tomorrow!
Hilarious comic by the way. Though I never really pictured the ‘present-time’ Kvothe as having a beard (it doesn’t make him look like a brooding version of the author…it doesn’t!)
Seeing as though I just finished rereading The Name of the Wind, this comic was twice as great, hahaha
“Moonlight taste like giggles” Hysterical! And to thing Auri almost wasn’t in the book.
Hey, if reading your book makes me ill prepared for class wednesday (which it will) can you write me a note excusing me? Authors can do that, right?
Me too.
75 minutes left… I’m not sure I’m going to make it. maybe a nap, then all night reading marathon? I think so.
Don’t start reading it if you have things to do tomorrow.
He !
My order has shipped from Amazon.ca at 9h00 this morning…I’ll receive it on March 3rd !
From then on, I’m going to be completely unsociable.
Don’t even try talking to me. Serious.
You might get one of your limbs bitten off.
You know Dead Space ? That’s what I’ll do to you.
You have been warned.
wait…wait…wait…
You’ll turn me into Dead Space or you’ll use the same power?
Anyone on the east coast get it on kindle yet?
Not here… though when it didn’t show up by 12:15 I checked my account and instead of ‘confirmed’ it says ‘pending’… it’s apparently been this way since I pre-ordered it weeks ago. Damn me for not checking, and damn you Amazon! >.<
Next time, I'm just going to freakin' break into a distribution center and get it a month early. Freakin teaches me to decide to do the right thing. *muttermuttermutter*
Yeah just about ready to cancel my kindle copy. HC is coming tomorrow.
I’ve waited for Kindle releases in the past and can tell you that the book will be delivered at midnight PST because Amazon is centered on the west coast.
Not sure if that is it. Even Penguin doesn’t have it available in mobi format yet.
Ridiculous. Everyone has the book except the Amazon Kindle.
I think Hardback touters everywhere just cackled maniacally. Or well, did over the last several days as their copies all arrived early XD
(not saying I’m not getting the HC – I am, especially knowing what I do now about ebooks – but I am waiting a week just in case by some miracle I get to go to a signing)
This. Is Awesome. I remember Name of the Wind now!
Some people read really really fast. There are ways you can train yourself to read the same way, takes a lot of effort and a long time to get up your comprehension levels…
well, that didn’t go where I wanted it too, sorry…
