Fanmail FAQ: Where is the Store?

Since I posted up the video interviews with Peter on Friday, I received a dozen e-mails centering around the topic of his Eolian t-shirt.

Some people merely wanted to express their geeky joy at the sight of his shirt. Some people proclaimed terrible envy. Some people asked if I’d ever thought of getting t-shirts like that made so I could sell them. Some people knew there was a store somewhere, but they had no idea where to find it….

So I realized I should probably make a post with a link to our store: the aptly-named The Tinker’s Packs.

A lot of you who have been reading the blog for a while probably already know about the store. But for those of you who only tuned in recently… there you are. You can get t-shirts and books and such there.

Best of all, all proceeds from the store go to our charity: Worldbuilders.

We’ll be re-vamping the website relatively soon, and when that happens, the store will have its own permanent place on the webpage. But for now, we’ll have to do with a link here on the blog.

Meatier blog soon,

pat

Looking forward to the new web design! (not that this one is bad, mind you)

Has the Heifer International Challenge been renewed? I noticed that the Worldbuilders challenge had a 2010 end date on The Heifer Int page. Since I had wanted to give to that charity for quite some time I donated anyway. All the links are still active and there appears to be an ongoing tally with an updated goal. So anything new there?

That shirt is awesome. Bought one already.

When you revamp the site, you should name this http://www.patrickblogfuss.com

You’re only suggesting that because you’re squatting on the domain!

    Hey Pat,

Speaking of stores, I was just on amazon and found someone selling a ” companion” to your books for Kindle. Did you know about this?

That person should know better. . .there was that whole flap about the “guide” to Harry Potter. . .maybe it’s a ruse to meet Pat. In a courtroom.

It does seem very sketchy, and they say it is wiki-content. If you can go online to Amazon and buy this, surely you can search wikipedia for the same info for free.

My eyes caught the ‘Luring the Draccus’ poster, I’d forgotten about it. Makes me want to see more art like it.

Also a “Meatier blog soon,” you say, I can hardly wait. Maybe something on the photo contest? Are is that still awhile away?

I really hope it will be something on the photo contest. I check like 3 times a day. lol. I have no life.

Even if its just a “I am about 25% of the way through looking at photos and deciding…” that would be great.

      :D

But really, he’s kinda doing us all a favor (thank you Pat!) by holding this contest and giving out prizes. So i can’t be impatient.

    Do you use twitter Pat?
I was just looking for you, and someone had tweeted that they had just finished NOTW, and I recommend WMF and that they visit the blog, you’re welcome ;)

But seriously, twitter? I have only just started to like it…

  8. Posted May 24, 2011 at 4:28 AM | Permalink

Twitter is an awesome and evil medium. Very addictive once you get a taste for it. Pat, I forbid you to join Twitter, it will only delay the third book. Only kidding, you should give it a chance when you find that rare five minutes of freedom. I daresay there is a big fan-base of yours there waving the flag for the four corners of Civilization.

As for the store, those things being in my profession, is not at all bad.

    You can,

    A) Find what you want
    B) Successfully buy it

Two major features that a lot of online stores lack would you believe. It does not matter what the store looks like, it is just a matter if the products kick ass, and they do. The Kingkiller T-Shirt is beautiful. I am worried if Kvothe is meant to be a pawn or Queen though. Ol’ Chess, it has been a while..

I have a lot of stuff from the store from Worldbuilders last time. The boyfriend constantly wants to be loudly upset with you over the Whiffle and Moo and Map of the Four Corners posters being “non-standard sizes” because now we can’t really frame them.
To which I imagined framing and hanging the Whiffle and Moo poster and having my parents over, and promptly laughed.

Either way, I have the Eolian t-shirt and the Denner Fishing t-shirt, as well as all the posters, and I adore them all :)

Speaking of posters, can the Denner Fishing shirt be a poster? I want it, but if I’m wearing a shirt I much prefer its reference to be obscure – I like the Eolian shirt because it doesn’t say name of the wind on it.

        Posted May 25, 2011 at 6:46 AM | Permalink

I dunno, the Denner Fishing one is still pretty obscure – it has the name, sure, but it’s in tiny print under a line.

I, personally, want the little Anime Kvothe from the t-shirt contest to be a poster :)

It’s obscure, sure, but I prefer ‘stealth geek’ (someone below mentioned that, and that term fits perfectly). I want someone to see ‘Eolian’ and be like ‘Hey! You read Rothfuss!’ rather than ‘Name of the Wind’ and be like ‘Oh, hey, ive heard of that’.

I have this task for school to create a subjective school system. I have been thinking about this for a while now and I seem to end up writing out your system from your books. Now, I was wondering, if you believe yourself that this would work in real life? Or if it would be possible in our society…?
    Great writing!

Fraid won’t be buying any more shirts- American boobs are alot smaller than Canadian boobs apparently – or they cut T-shirts wierd over there…..

lol! I think you may be right! I have a problem with ‘girl-cut’ shirts too no matter the size (I’m ‘geek girl’ big but not gross, and had this problem even when I was *skinny*). I’m in the US, but was recently doing some family research and found out 2 generations back I’m all Canadian on one side. My grandma sent me a bit of a tree, and a bunch of the names had little trivia notes about the person. My favorite (and probably the most telling) note: “She had the build and strength of a man, but made up for it with her huge breasts”

I love my Eolian t-shirt. It’s perfectly stealth geek in that it looks great on its own, but the reference is noticed only by the hardcore fans.

Will there be an ARC of Wise Man’s Fear available at the Tinker’s Packs? If there will be I’m gonna wanna make that my homepage so I don’t miss out!

The Wise Mans fear made me so happy, but so upset at the same time. More story = happy. When I got to the end and there was no more story, I was upset. But, all I can do is wait.

I can’t thank you enough for this story. It’s definitely my favorite. Keep up the work, you’ve definitely got a fan for life.

  16. Posted May 26, 2011 at 10:13 AM | Permalink

Sorry for asking through here, but I couldn’t find any other way. Do you know if the book will be translated to Latin American Spanish? If you do, do you know when?.

You have a lot of fans here in Mexico, and we’re dying to know the rest of the story!.

I’m very tempted to buy it in English, but my girlfriend and I are not going to be able to ready it as fast as we could in out language.

Pat, what do you recommend? Do I buy it right away or do I wait for the translation?

Hey, Lev Grossman just posted a blog about how much he loves video games. It’s entertaining, and hits a theme that comes up here. Here’s an excerpt:

“I often get a surprised reaction to the fact that I’m both a books guy and a games guy. They’re supposed to be mortal enemies, fighting it out for a slice of the unexpanding pie of our entertainment hours/dollars. But then I’m surprised at their surprise. I mean, come on, you were introverted and socially anxious when you were a kid, right? Right? What else did you do besides read books and play video games? Where does this schism come from?

What, were you out there playing kickball? Jock.”

I’ve never heard of this ‘games vs. books’ debate, and it doesn’t make any sense to me. I mean, I read at least 1 good sized book a week, and my Steam account currently has 124 games in it (that number makes me facepalm myself…) and I STILL have time to write novels and work full time. So, idk why someone can’t at least read and play games…
