The Obligatory Holiday Post

There were a lot of things I wanted to do here on the blog before Christmas.

I was planning on posting up a video of me reading a picture book, but I couldn’t manage to get it done in time.

I thought about posting up a Christmas Card type thinger to mitigate the guilt of not having sent out anything resembling a Christmas Card again this year. Or any year, for that matter. Ever. But that didn’t happen.

I was hoping to post up one more worldbuilders blog. The clockwork, Machiavellian part of me knows this is the perfect time for it….

I was going to try and post up the first of the belated photo contest blogs, too. I know a lot of you have been waiting for that for a *long* time.

But yesterday I realized that with all the busyness of Worldbuilders and whatnot, I hadn’t, y’know, bought any presents yet. Or really done anything much to get ready for the holiday.

So instead of doing any of those things, I’m going to put up a cute picture of Oot decorating the Christmas tree.

I’ll post up fancy blogs next week.

I hope all of you that do Christmas-type stuff have a good time.

Those of you that don’t do Christmas, I hope you have a good time too, doing whatever it is you do.

With all sorts of fondness,

pat

P.S. The orange thing is a giant pumpkin, just in case you’re wondering.

Heh, I was wondering what the giant orange thing was. My guess was either pumpkin or space alien. Either one would have been awesome, because dang, that is a GIANT pumpkin.

Hope you and everyone else have a lovely Christmas! Stay warm!

Merry Christmas, Pat. May you revel in the warmth and kindness you so freely give out year-round. Ours is a kinder and gentler world with you in it, sir; succinctly spiced with enough geeky goodness to cheer the glummest of souls.

    Peace and good-cheer from Phoenix.

Heh. If it pans out, I’ll put up pictures on the blog….

    Merry Christmas Pat!
You do more with the time we all get than most of us. No worries.
I’ve been pimping your books to anyone that will listen to me. Not that they need it, but my way of spreading a little joy to others.

BTW – is it my imagination, or is there a ghostly reflection on the window to this picture?

I might be mistaken but that looks like the reflection of Sarah, Pat’s significant other.

    So, a giant pumpkin.
I think that raises more questions than it answers.
Anyway, marry christmas, happy saturnalia, dies natalis solis invicti, hanukkah, holidays, and any other excuse to have a good time.

At least you decorated your tree. My potted plant didn’t even get lights. This year my niece finally got her hands on my parents tree. Then she re-decorated it and the living room. How is yours so clean?! That picture resembles a Christmas card in my book. Even better, you wrote a letter; plus a pumpkin for the personal touch. Tell your Machiavellian to shove it; Christmas is for family and a body needs rest. Merry Christmas Pat!

Speaking of Christmas cards, in lieu of yours, I wanted to share with everyone the wonderful, Kingkiller inspired card my girlfriend made for me today. It’s wonderful!

    Here it is.

I’m on holiday, and I went to the book swap corner and was delighted to find WMF on the shelf, and was going to reread it. Was devastated when I picked it up and it had 200 pages from the middle missing. I’d like to think it’s so tatty because so many people have read it. I will post a picture at some point, it’s on my phone right now.
    Merry Christmas! : )

Yup, was absolutely wondering what that was. Thanks for explaining. Now I know what bestselling authors eat, I guess … ‘Patrick Rothfuss, powered by pumpkin.’

Fantastic pick, you’ll be smiling at that for the rest of your life. I hope you got a fun reaction from Oot when you got that pumpkin. Have a good time of year, all!

Can’t wait for all the blogs you mentioned…. neither can I wait for pictures of w/e the hell you are going to do with the massive pumpkin ;-).

Always love to see pictures of Oot. He really is growing fast, isn’t he. Cute little guy.

Frohe Weihnachten, to you Mr. Rothfuss.

I hope you have more snow than we have here in Germany … one of my cousins here cried because there was no snow and so he thought there would be no Chrismas. We had to call grandma in the mountains to make shure somewhere was snow somewhere. ;-)

If that organge supposed to be Pumkin turns out to be a Hutt please send many more pictures I really would love to seee him. XD

I hope you do spend most of your Christmas time with your familiy and not posting up blogs for us … even though I really would love to see the Photo contest blog. ^^

Best wishes and a great start into the next year!

    That… Is a BIG pumpkin.

Patrick Rothfuss, Pumpkin King Extraordinaire, Writer of the Kingkiller Chronicles, Defender against all things that end in “Oom”.

Okay, I may have exaggerated a little. But still, Happy holidays.

    Now for a funny.
~SEASONS GREETINGS~ One way to say I don’t know what religion you practice, as well as being a nice way of saying “I don’t give a crap.”

I’m always blown away by how beautifully BLONDE your little one is. It’s impressive.

My nieces and nephews got to decorate my parents’ tree this year. They’re 6 months (he sat nearby with a Santa hat on), 2, 4, and 13 (she mostly watched), and there were about 4 branches with all the ornaments on them. My parents left it that way :)
