Upcoming appearances and some Interviews

Okay. First and foremost, I have a couple of readings/signings/Q&A things coming up in these next couple weeks.

One of them is right here in Stevens Point at my local independent bookstore, Bookfinders. It’s on Friday, Feb 24th, at 7:00. I’ve also heard that one of the cool local coffee shops will be providing treats for the event. So even if you don’t care about hearing me read some of my newer stuff… y’know… treats.

The other event that’s rapidly approaching is in Virginia. Specifically, I’ll be in Blacksburg.

Here. Let’s just do it like this:

STEVENS POINT, WI
February 24th at 6:30 PM
Reading and Signing at Bookfinders
1001 Brilowski
Stevens Point, WI 54481
Facebook Event

BLACKSBURG, VA
February 29th at 7:00 PM
Reading, Q&A, and Signing
Virginia Bioinformatics Institute Conference Center
BLACKSBURG, VA 24061
Facebook Event

HIGH POINT, NC
March 2-4, 2012
Literary Guest of Honor for StellarCon 36
Best Western High Point
135 South Main St
High Point, NC 27260
Facebook Event

I don’t get down into that corner of the world very often, so if you’re interested in seeing me and maybe getting a book signed, you should catch me when I’m in the area.

As always, you can get details about my upcoming appearances on the Tour Page. I’ll be updating it with this summer’s conventions pretty soon, too.

Lastly, for those of you who enjoy hearing me ramble about one thing and another, we have a couple interviews from a while back. I didn’t get a chance to post them when they happened because we were in the thick of Worldbuilders.

Here’s a podcasty one with Adventures in Sci-fi Publishing.

And a texy one with NeuFutur.

Share and Enjoy,

pat

    LionsRampant requests a Connecticut visit!

Just received my Worldbuilder’s donation receipt in the mail yesterday.

    Keep up the great work!

      We get a receipt?

Yep, for tax purposes and personal records. It took several weeks but I received one yesterday. It contains your Donor ID and supplement information regarding your contribution. Give it some time but I’m sure yours is coming, unless you listed your return mailing address as that Shared World’s creation fantasy world…in which case I would say Patrick’s “Antharian Bloob” collected it from the floor of the mine shaft as a mistaken box top…oh Antharian Bloob, please mail Erzberger his receipt!

:-) Thanks. I´m awaiting mail from the Bloob then, hoping it wont be smudged with his vomit.

What about the drawing of prizes for the donations? I never heard of anything further from anyone.

I would love to see (and hug) you at a signing in Germany ;-)

I second Germany and suggest Cologne (or Berlin, that would give me a reason to finally visit the capital). By the way that offer I made way back about cooking for you and driving you around still stands ;-) and ther will be cookies XD !!!

It must be difficult to have fans from all over the world asking you to come to their piece of earth. You invariably disappoint someone (without wanting to, but it probably feels “ungood” anyway). Wasn´t there a blog about this?

I do not mean to be a bummer but I am desperate to see all those great pictures … you meant to upload them between the years but I guess you had Oot to look after and cookies to make happy.
Can we expect it to come some time soon? I shure hope so ;-)

    Happy signings

I know, intellectually, that “texy” probably meant to be “texty”, but I’m choosing to believe it’s a misspelling of “sexy”. Then again, ALL of Pat’s interviews are sexy, if you’re into bearded literary genius.

:( Sadly Blacksburg is 4 hours away and my bf says no, not on a school night. He doesn’t want to get back at 2am. So I shall anxiously await your next visit to this neck of the woods.

After reading that interview, I think I’ll be having burrito’s for dinner at my house LOL. That made me so hungry!

Secondly, Barenaked Ladies?! Seriously? I never would have guessed that one…

    Hi There Pat!
quick question, is there any chance your path will lead you to Asia (Singapore or Hong Kong) one day, I know quite a lot of people here who are big fans of your books and we usually don’t get too many Author Readings or visits here on the far side of the world. I’ve been living here since 6 years now and it’s a wonderful place, hop on a jet, come over, it’s just a fly away!
    Cheers

Is there any chance you might be attending the 2012 World Fantasy Convention in Toronto?

There are more than 5.5 million people in the greater Toronto area, so there should be a good turnout.

So, I was just looking around The Tinker’s Packs shop and my husband noticed that the Portuguese version of the book is either labeled wrong or has the wrong picture. The book in the picture is The Wise Man’s Fear, and in the description it says it’s The Name of the Wind. Just wondering if you’d noticed that…

Actually, looking around the shop a bit more, I figured out what happened. The pictures for the Brazilian Portuguese version of the Name of the Wind and the Wise Man’s Fear are switched.

The second book was worth the wait and that’s saying something because I’ve only read the first two chapters!!!

I live in North Carolina near to where StellarCon is happening, but I definitely can’t afford to go (ultimate sadness). Will you be making any appearances signing in bookstores nearby or anything? I would hate to miss you on a rare trip to my corner of the world!

    So: Suvudu Cage Match 2012.
I see Kvothe is not on the list, but Bast is. Seems a strange choice. I’m not sure we know everything we need to know about him yet. Still, I wish him well in the cage match. Hard not to vote for Granny Weatherwax, though. Let’s hope they don’t have to go head to head.

Awe…Bast is in the same mini bracket as Anomander Rake. He was my top pick from that entire list. He is the biggest baddest character in a world full of amazing and powerful people. That’s gonna be a tough one. Hopefully Bast makes it all the way.

    Pat

Stephen King said it best. “It’s about the language.”

I read a great deal. I read many types of authors, with many styles and from many periods of time. When I talk to people about what I read and tell them what I get from guys like you and Stephen King, I often get laughs. Those who laugh are fools.

I don’t read your novels because of the fantasies you have created. They are great. I read your books because you are a great sculptor of the language and you fit it into some great stories. But without the language the story is a comic book.

All this stuff about comic book conventions and dressing up to impress an author is just fluff.

Rise above it, Pat. You have so much more to offer the world. Although you’ve made a great start, you’re just beginning.

    Thanks,

    Tom Swan
