Hey there everybody,
As many of you know, the 10th Annual Worldbuilders Fundraiser is going on. We’re three days in and we just passed $400k. As I’ve mentioned before, this year’s the fundraiser will only be two weeks, but we are packing a whole lot of awesome into them.
Throughout the fundraiser I’ll be streaming daily doing everything from playing games to doing Q&A to hosting panels with some really great people.
If you want to catch a stream, here is my schedule:
If you follow me over on Twitch and turn on notifications you’ll get a heads up on when I start. (Also, there might be some late night streams I do outside of this and that’s the best way to find out about them.)
You’ll notice starred events are streams of events I’m doing at PAX Unplugged, which leads me into…
I’m going to be in Philadelphia this weekend at PAX Unplugged. I’ll be doing a talk, some signings, and playing some games.
Here’s my schedule.
- Saturday, December 1
Acquisitions Incorporated Live
8:30 – 11:30 PM in the Main Theatre
- Sunday, December 2
Acquisitions Incorporated: The “C” Team
11:00 AM – 1:30 PM in the Main Theatre
Pat Rothfuss Signing
2:30 – 3:30 PM
If you haven’t heard about it yet, we’re doing some really cool D&D stuff in the fundraiser this year. I’ve been working with so many wonderful people in the roleplaying community to make buffs and boons…
Here, let me just show you….
(And there’s more to come.)
Every $10 donation to the D&D Team Page gives you a chance to win a few or even a set of all of these cards. Let me tell you folks, the odds are good. You can see all the cards and donate on the D&D Team Page here.
Beyond that, if you haven’t checked it out yet, we have some really great stuff in the lottery this year, including another hand-crafted walnut Wyrmwood gaming table and a cabin for two on the JoCo Cruise. (Any donation to the D&D Team will put you in for the general lottery as well.)
I’ll talk more about Heifer in a future blog, but for now if you’re curious just jump in and look at the cool stuff we’re giving away.
I hope to see some of you soon,
pat

Are we still doing the daily drawings while you are at PAX, or will we just catch up when you are back up and can stream again?
Loved watching your panel today. You were amazing!
We’re going to be doing all the draws from this weekend on Monday, so if you donate before the end of the stream on Monday, you’ll be eligible for *all* of those. I think we’ll be doing somewhere between 8-12 of them…
So, on a previous blog post, I asked if you would ever release the rules you use for in the champion system for Sympathy ( https://blog.patrickrothfuss.com/2018/10/a-thousand-stories-in-the-naked-city/#comment-55064 ) and since bundle of holding is doing an early champions bundle ( https://bundleofholding.com/presents/EarlyChampions ) I thought I might ask if you’d be willing to share them if you reach a certain threshold in your fundraiser or something. Not trying to be pushy, just… very, very curious.
I’m sorry, but I don’t think there’s any way for us to do this in a timely fashion at this point. We have too many plates spinning right now…
More than $100K/day is pretty spiffy.
I went in for a heifer, in honor of our own heifer Cleo (who will hopefully deliver a calf next spring and be a cow like her boss Zola at Ten O’Clock Acres) and in memory of my father Lester.
I was going to bemoan my lack of social media followers when I realized I might reach some likely candidates over at permies.com, where I’m a moderator. Hmmm, I’ll have to think where a post about my favorite charity can go . . .
. . . and, done. permies.com is a high traffic site (it’s all about permaculture, which is how we’re going to save the world) so I hope I recruit some traffic to Worldbuilders! We’re all trying to make the world a better place.
In fact, the tagline for permies.com is “making the world a better place through learning new things instead of being angry at bad guys.” I encourage anyone who wants to chat in a non-toxic environment (other than Pat’s blog and twitch streams, of course) to wander over there. We moderate heavily and do not tolerate trolls. Just people sharing their stories.
Thanks so much for helping to spread the word, Julia….
Hey, Would it be possible to release a detailed shot of that mass of book?
Thanks
Pat –
You looked super sharp at PAX Unplugged.
Thank you for all you do. You are making the world a better place. *hugs*
Hi i guess :)
Just leaving that comment here:
The first time donating to a good cause feels really good.
The feeling of being significant to others even if they don’t know you were part of it is sneaky a.f. and i like it :’)
Won’t be my last time donating to WB.
Sending good vibes from Germany *smile*
I love this Community
Well, put in what I could. Someone’s getting ducks. Go team!
Hi Pat, I can’t believe I missed seeing you in Philadelphia! My 13-yr-old son and I flew in from California for him to compete in the Star Trek: Attack Wing world championships at PAX. I didn’t know you were making an appearance, or I would have totally slobbered all over you in my eagerness to show you’re my favorite author. Maybe it’s just as well…
If given the opportunity, I would have asked you if it was intentionally present tense for Kvothe to say “I tread paths” rather than “I trod paths” or “I have trodden paths”, in his “maybe you’ve heard of me” speech. And that could have gotten awkward. I hate putting people on the spot. So maybe I would have just slobbered instead, and remained in blissful ignorance.
Everybody sighed in relief. They had arrived at the right place. In any case, they proceeded to buy essay booklets. At that time, they were advised that they should only buy essay booklets only in that outlet. After this, each was allowed to become an essay writer agent.
Are you still doing the daily drawings while you’re at PAX, or will we catch up when you’re back streaming again?
