Working Under Deadline.

Just a brief set of announcements today, as I’m rushing to finish a draft of book two for my editor by tonight.

1. For all you geeks and gamers out there out there, I’m going to be attending GENCON this year. I used to go all the time back when they held it in Milwaukee, but when they moved it I was pissed and quit showing up.

But now my years of sulking are at an end. I’m heading back and this will be my first time attending in Indianapolis. I’ll be doing some panels, workshops, and signings. Maybe even playing a game or two. More details will follow later, when I have more time.

2. I’ve been crazy busy lately, so if I haven’t responded to your e-mail, it doesn’t mean I don’t love you. It just means that I’m waiting until I have a little free time.

3. I’ve put up the beginnings of an FAQ over here on the contact page. There will be more questions added in the future.

I’m also thinking of adding an IAQ for Infrequently Asked Questions. Such as “Do you like curry?” and “Do you know where I can buy a soccer ball?” (Yeah, those are real questions I’ve been asked so far.)

4. I did an interview for Ezzulia.

If you just clicked on it and are worried you can’t read it, relax. You’re not having a stroke. The interview is in Dutch, as the Dutch translation of the book went on sale about a week ago. I feel so international.

Lastly, I’m doing a book signing a week from now, on July 28th, here in Stevens Point. It’s at the Book World on Main Street from 1:00 to 3:00. Feel free to stop by if you’re in the neighborhood.

Later all,

Pat

I think the IAQ page is a must.

Will that awesome design (as seen in the listed review) be available in the United States?

I think the FAQ page is now my favorite part of the website, other than the blog, of course. However, the IAQ page would be much more interesting, and I eagerly await its arrival.

You’re right, I don’t want you to starve. And no, I don’t know where to buy a soccer ball… but my friend over at SportMart may be able to help you.

I read the interview with Babel Fish and it was easy to understand most of it. The interviewer had some good questions! Plus, the Dutch cover looks so cool.

Heck, I was happy when they moved it to Milwaukee as that was a shorter drive than Lake Geneva… Feeling old now!

Since its an important day for all HP fans out there, I thought I’d mention- Read It. The Deathly Hallows are worth the time (about 10 hours for me), and so if this rambles a bit, I didnt exactly sleep last night. At all.Ok, back to bed.

Loved the Dutch interview. I think it’s understandable that you would be “nervous of the tweed book.” :) Bork bork bork.

Hey Patrick, I just found out about your blog and I think it is a wonderous thing to read about the things that keep you busy. :)I also happen to be a Dutch guy, if you want to, I could translate the interview you did with ezzulia to English? It would not be much work.

Jillian: Book two is called “The Wise Man’s Fear.” Lawrence: Thanks for the offer, but I actually gave it to them in English, so I’ve already got the original translation. I’ll post it up here eventually.

RE:Haha, it is fine by me, I can read both. ;)Speaking of which, I am little bit hesistant raising the topic here, but is there any way DAW Books is able to provide me with a reviewing copy for me to review over at my blog? Or should I take up the matter with your publisher? Thanks in advance.

Lawrence: Unfortunately, I think the publisher isn’t handing out review copies anymore. You could alway hit them up for one though and see if you’re lucky…. pat

Whee! And this will be the first time I attend GenCon. Mere coincidence, or the Great Will of the Literary Macrocosm?A soccer ball? Really? I am occasionally stunned by reality….

Hmm — I can’t find a Rothfuss signing in GenCon’s schedule. I hope that either the schedule is appropriately updated or that I can level up in reading event schedules…. I have to buy another copy for a gift and I want to purchase it direct and signed!

Laura: I’ll be posting particulars about my signings and panels and stuff pretty soon. Stay tuned.
