A few of you have e-mailed me, commenting on the ad you saw over at Real Life comics. I like it too, it was written and drawn by the author of the comic, Greg Dean. He’s a hell of a nice guy, and a good storyteller to boot.
So feel free to wander over there and check out the ad. It’s worth a chuckle. I’m especially fond of the tagline for some reason. I’m not sure why, exactly. It just strikes me as catchy….
And while you’re at it, you might want to give the comic a read too. It’s good stuff.

‘kay, yeah. That ad rox0rz.
Haha, brilliant :) I just ordered in your hardcover+signature deal from Australia, it’s been a while since I read your book. Should be a great break after exams. If you’re interested in comics by the way, you’ve got to try pbfcomics.com if you haven’t already. Hilarious stuff
That’s great, and looks like it should be much more effective than your average banner advertisement.
great . . . another great webcomic i have to go through 9 years worth of reading. thanks, Pat. geez. ;-)
Just out of curiousity, were there any changes (typo corrections, etc) between the hardcover and the paperback? Or is are the new featues simply that I can crack the spine and fit the book in my back pocket?
Awesome. I <3 RealLife, been reading them forever. It's actually how I found the book, Dean made a blog recommending it.>>However, I would never EVER do that to a book, bending the cover like that..it’s just wrong.
I’m one of those that saw the book advertisement on Real Life’s website and figured that I would go ahead and give it a try. I’m of mixed feelings about it though!>>I loved the book, and just about cried when I realized that the second book was only just coming out. *whimper* At least I’ll have two books with which to await the release of the third.
Todd: Yeah. There were a few typo corrections, and I fixed a few very minor coninuity errors, too.
Thanks for making OddCon fun Pat. One day all the swear words you wrote in my book will be worth a fortune and I’ll be forced to decide between nostalgia and a hoverbike.
Man, I wish I could do that with my hardcover…>Oh yeah, that’s why I buy hardcover. Cause I do that with my paperbacks and then they sorta, um, DIE.>>Still frickin hilarious though.
Awesome ad. That being said they should have made the amount more then six. I have lost count on how many times i have read it at least 3 times a month usually more then that
Also if anyone is looking for a good web comic and haven’t seen “Unshelved” yet you shoud check it out.
@Aaron>>I’m reading it for the 2nd time after Pat pointed out a bunch of cool little things that I missed. It’s got a bunch of little secrets and clues and naughtiness. How much do you feel you’ve gained through multiple readings
Continuity errors, Pat?>>Can you elaborate a little?
No. They are my secret shame….
Smasher. I absolutly have picked up on hidden things. The last time i read it i noticed a correlation that i hadnt seen before. When describing his name Kvothe says one of the meanings of his name from the Adem is “the Thunder” he associates this with his voice but when in the rookery alder whin asks Elodin not to bring the thuinder next time. Many more and more significant { I think} i have noticed but they could be spoilers to newcomers so….
I actually discovered the book because of a post Greg made on Real Life quite a while back.
Nice! Good stuff indeed
Actually I noticed far more the first time I read it.>> Including a time line error within the book. But for the life of me I couldn’t find it when i re read notw.>>But that might just be because I take my time reading something for the first time, making sure I understand everything but I rush through a re read.>>Or I guess I could of fooled my self the first time.>>As of pats secrets, I haven’t got a chance, I am still rooting for Auri and Kvothe to get together, lol>ok maybe not but I do love their conversations>Pat is like the ring, He keeps secrets he doesn’t tell them
I used to read ‘Real Life’ all the time. I had forgotten about it. I’m all caught up now though. Only had to read 3 or 4 years worth.>>Thanks for the reminder, Pat.
I just saw something kinda cool. Another fantasy author, Brandon Sanderson, has just recommended your book on his blog. He’s the guy who’s now in charge of the Wheel of Time series (since the original author died). He was kinda misinformed about Wise Man’s Fear’s release date, though.>>http://www.brandonsanderson.com/blog/
Greg’s < HREF="http://www.reallifecomics.com/archive/070510.html" REL="nofollow">original post<> about your book is the sole reason I went down to Border’s and picked up a copy. I’m not sure why, since I rarely follow recommendations and NEVER buy hardcover, but.. I did, and I’m very, very glad I did. That’s one hell of a book. I think it really is the best I’ve ever read.>>(Also, after having finished my third read through, I just noticed how often young Kvothe uses sentences consisting of seven words, especially when speaking to Denna. If that’s not coincidental, you’re far more clever than I gave you credit for.)
