I know I said I’d have the details about the name raffle up by Monday. But I didn’t say *which* Monday, now did I? [Insert maniacal laughter here.]
Seriously though. I decided to add a paypal option for overseas people to use, and it’s taking me a longer to figure out the details than I thought it would. Plus, I want the details of this particular blog to exceptionally clear and easy to understand. Otherwise I know there will be chaos and confusion.
Anyway. I’ll have the kinks worked out of the blog by tomorrow (hopefully).
Until then, for those of you who have been asking, here’s a picture of Oot.
(The picture, that is. Oot will remain regular baby size.)
Awwww. How cute is he? Plus his mouth is open, just like his daddy. In my experience, that means he’s thinking about breasts, just like his daddy.
I wish I could take credit for that piece of dashing haberdashery, but I can’t. The onesie he’s wearing is a gift from a very thoughtful fan. Pure style.
Also, for those of you who keep asking. I think he’s going to continue to be known as Oot here on the blog. Later on, if he wants, he can choose to be an internet rockstar. But for now, we’ll let him keep a little anonymity. Literally.
Soon…

Precious beyond words.
Handsome baby :) He seems very peaceful…
Poop machine!
He’s very cute. I’m a bit jealous. I have five girls. Kept trying for a boy. Didn’t happen. I lost.
Congrats on your cute Oot.
Oh my goodness, he’s so cute!!! Hope you guys are having a wonderful first month :-) And I kind of love the name Oot.
That’s awesome. Meaning of life right there. I’m sure we’d all like to know the name, but like all good fanatical minions, we respect privacy.
So in WoW speak: WOOOOOOT!! OOT!!
I am so distracted… I cannot for the life of me remember what it was that made me check this blog every two hours today…
The onesie is cute, and so is Oot! Congratulations, you guys, once again. He may just grow up to be as beautiful as his mother and as fashionable as his father with that kind of clothing and those looks.
Now I think I should go sleep…
But I just cannot seem to recall why I got up in the first place…
Oh well, names are important things (as you can tell by the fact we are refering to your child as “Oot” and myself as “AnAlbinoDruid”)!
Goodnight, Pat.
Goodnight, hat.
Goodnight, Sarah.
And Goodnight, Panerra (Bread).
Goodnight, Oot.
Goodnight, boot.
Goodnight, house.
Goodnight, mouse.
Goodnight, Moon…
…I’ll see you again, soon
soooo cute little one and nice funny onesie =)
i wonder if i could get my 8-year-old wear a t-shirt with my picture and “my mom is a better unknown writer than yours” written on it. do you think it would work?? mmmmhh… right, i’ll find something else XD
Y’know, I’m now tempted to ask if we could use the contest to get Oot in as the name in the next book. Not his real name, mind, but the actual name “Oot.”
Perhaps this is the sleep deprivation talking. Should not comment on blogs at 5am…
Adorable (and great onesie) :)
Ah-dorable. Totally Ootable.
He is adorabel! Congrats! :)
So all it takes to get ppl to send onesies with your picture on it to you for free, is to become an international bestselling fantasy author.
Hmmm, now that explains, why I didn’t get any. Me not having any offspring yet might also be a reason…
Congrats to your baby. I’m not sure if i mentioned it here, but for the love of life I can’t bring myself to like the looks of babies. I do love babies I just don’t think they are cute or beautiful or anything. Lovely and adorable yes, beautiful or cute no way.
Anyway I’m not speaking of any particular baby here just in general. Compared to other babies Oot is a winner where it comes to baby-looks. So please take no offence by my earlier words.
I like the idea of having Oot in the book as a name, but i guess we needn’t have to squander our chance for his name. After all Oot has probably an even closer connection to Pat than all us fanatical minions ;)
Biting my nails till tomorrow, for somehow you did get me agitated/exited for the contest.
(Sidenote: agitated and exited translate to the same word in German I mean the happily jumping up and down one which i believe to be ‘exited’.)
cheers
Armin
Sorry. I hate to be the one to break the news… Oot will eventually embiggen too.
Depressing. But – then you will get to play with the bigger Oot, and that has its benefits too… like they eventually poop in the toilet, if you are lucky.
Ha! His onesie is awesome. And he’s adorable.
Absolutely adorable.
Awww ^^ Oot’s really cute. (I guess that’s no news to you though…)
This babyclothing is stylish, too. I have to remember to get my ones something similar…
Cute Oot!!
Awesome, Pat. Now, if I show my wife, she’ll be jealous and want one again, and if I don’t show my wife, she’ll wonder why I haven’t shown her. Thanks, Pat.
He’s a cute baby Oot.
When is the beard going to come in? I think I’m seeing a little peach fuzz there…..
I love the name Oot! My little one is Tlo for internet purposes, got to love anonymity.
Blessings to you and your family!
he’s just the cutest little ball of cuteness ever!
My dad had massive, 70’s hippie facial hair and I grew up with an exceptional (even for the late 70’s) love of the muppets. I wonder if little oot will have the same peccadillo? (I can’t think of a good word for ‘slight oddness’ that has a better connotation, but it’s intended positively and hopefully you won’t think of that as a slight).
Also, fabulous use of ‘literally’. =)
Oot has such a cute, rounded belly! I got the impression that he has gas in the picture but it could just be the baby belly. Gotta keep those growing organs in a that tiny frame somehow!
congrats again. He really is a cutie!
Awww… He’s so cute!
Oot is kinda generic… but it fits him. It’s cute too.
What a cutie! You and Sarah done good. :D I want to blow a raspberry on his little belly.
that’s one hot onesie
He’s adorable. Nerdbaby, which is what my husband and I use for online for our new baby, says hello. Nerdbaby is 7 weeks old now and I still find myself just sitting around on the couch with him all day making faces at him. Why do laundry? I can always buy more clothes. It is going to suck so much when i have to go back to work next week and take him to daycare. You’re very lucky you get to be home with Oot. Enjoy every minute.
Looks to me like his little tummy is already embiggened. Keep feeding him. Don’t worry about baby fat. Once he starts walking and running he’ll skinny up.
I beg to differ.
hmmmm, wonder how many pictures you’ve taken of him…
You have a beautiful child. And the onesie is absoultely awesome.
~Vinny~
That is one bright, healthy looking baby! And I know you didn’t give us his birth measurements, but he looks really big! You guys are obviously doing great.
Hope you’re getting enough sleep. I’m three weeks away from the arrival of our fourth precious bundle… and trying to store up sleep-hours in advance for the next eight months. (Except it doesn’t work that way does it? Probably I should be practising sleep deprivation to get match-fitness.)
>< your baby is exceptionally cute!!
Hah! he’s adorable. my mom thinks so, too, which means that it is fact. yay oot!
i also think you should put him in the book.
very cute! and to think that in sixteen or eighteen years, he’ll be coming in and out of the house at all hours of the night. heh heh heh.
Pat, he’s awesome. Not to freak you out, but the amount his head is turned reminded me of my son. He had torticollis, which is a tightening of one side of the neck muscles that prevents the infant from turning his head around freely. It’s fairly common, but since the little tykes head is still hardening, if the infant lays only on one side of his head for prolonged periods, he can get what’s commonly known as “flathead”, a visible flattening of the head. This happened to my son, and he had to wear a shaping helmet for 9 months when he was one. It’s fine now, but it’s not something you think to lookout for is those first crazy, hectic months of parenting. I’m sure you’ve had your full of advice, and I hope I’m not bieng nosey or rude. You’ve got a beautiful boy there, obviously thanks to his mother, and cherish every moment with him! Love the book, love you.
Oot is simply adorable… which means you’re in trouble cause they’re cuter to keep you from strangling them when they get older :)
Also, be Careful…they’re false advertising…the first one’s free (or relatively inexpensive) but they’re contagious and the next thing you know you’re kicking the Old Lady out of her shoe for extra space.
he looks like his daddy
What an absolutely adorable picture. Awesomely cute baby boy and sweet ass onesie. I love it!!! I also like the goodnight moon comment below. Classic.
Good Looking boy Pat,the two of you are going to have quite a wonderful ride raising him andboy does time fly. My 17 year old son was born just yesterday in my mind. Nice meeting you at Gen Con. Signed ( the guy who tracked you down for your signature at the authors symposium) Eric Sundstrom
Beside being a 258 on the 1 to 10 cuteness scale, the onesie made it blatantly clear to me just how uncool my own dad is… from the bestselling point of view. I love my dad. :)
Pat this is my first time posting here. I love your book and the way you use words and I am really eager to see book 2. I am sure you did a damn fine job.
aww thats so cute! Love the outfit :) cheers
He is absolutely amazing. I hope the transition to parenthood is going relatively smoothly for you. Glad the Onesie went over well. In a while you won’t believe that he ever fit into it….
How cute!!!!he’s charming and lovely!!!
So is his name not Oot? Cause i thought that was a pretty awesome name.
Oooooooh. What an adorable little tyke. XD
Oot is adorable! Congratulations- aren’t babies fun? All those cuddles…
The Name of the Wind was my newborn baby breastfeeding book with my now 5 week old daughter (3rd time round- my husband knows enough to get me a book or 10 now), and I loved it. It is nice to find your blog and find you in a baby space as well. I’m not sure why.
Enjoy the gorgeousness!
Just remember: everyone will tell you how difficult and awful the first months are with a baby…they’re just pushing a con job. Admittedly, it does get more rewarding once they learn how to smile (holy cow, that’s a skill that would give some payback at birth…!), but nonetheless, it’s still the most fun you’ll ever have for the rest of your life. Bar none. (And I’m counting naked, howl at the moon nights…)
