Is Patrick Rothfuss Fashionable?

In my last post I said in an offhand way, “fashionistas among you will note my stylish geekware.”

The joke, of course, lies in the fact that I am about as unfashionable as a person can be. I expect that the fashionistas pay as much attention to me as I pay to being fashionable. Which is to say, none. I am many things, but I am not one of the gliterati.

However, after that post, someone sent me a link to a blog that asked the question I thought nobody in their right mind would ever ask. Namely: Is Patrick Rothfuss Fashionable?

Share and enjoy,

pat

See?! You ARE a rockstar! :P Did you ever think people would be blogging about your fashion? It’s all of those thought-provoking t-shirts. :)

I think Joss Whedon needs a good “Patrick Rothfuss is my slave” t-shirt.

Well I couldn’t agree more with that post about your fashion Patrick. Yeah maybe the beard and scragly hair are not so hip, but your niceness and funniness makes up for that. Who says looks are so important anyways? If I could write like you I would gladly take the beard and scragly hair that came along with it! ;)

The fact that you take the time to connect with your fans is awesome, and it is something that thrilled me after I read the book, googled your name, and found your blog.

Your blog is the best thing since Kvothe played his lute and won the pipes! :)

Imagine a generation of kids raised to see you as a fashion icon. Geek Shic via D&D, instead of IBM. They’ll be dressing up as you for Halloween one day.

Hey Pat, at Gen Con I held you up scrolling through my iPod looking for one of my photos that I couldn’t find.

Well, that pic in the fashion blog was the photo!

You can see it here in all its original majesty and largerness!

So.. Pat isn’t Fashionable but he’s so clever it doesn’t matter?

or if your close fit your personality, and people like your personality then your fashionable?

or was it just a Fan who has a fashion blog and wanted to give Patrick Rothfuss and the Name of the Wind a plug to a nontraditional audience?

I think it was all three :)

    Dear Pat,

It has been a while since I have posted, although I have been keeping up to date on your life as closely as if it were my own. I am very happy for you, Sarah, and Oot, but there were so many posts on that one blog that I thought it would be a moot AND mute point being the writer of 500th message to congratulate you (But congratulations!).

I like this blog entry about a blog entry about you. It made me glad to read. You are a fashionable guy, and so I think there is hope for all of uswho enjoy our nice t-shirts and outrageous hair styles in various places on our faces. But I did not enjoy reading the blog because the author chose not to use any capitalization. That is just a pet-peeve of mine; it is almost as bad as using all capital letters, or not using paragraphs to make the text easier to read.

On an unrelated note, I have decided to pursue writing and music in college. I would like to thank you and Kvothe for that.

    Respectfully Yours,
    An Albino Druid

    Pat

do you really care if others think you are fashionable or not?

It’s more about whether people respect you and your writing, which from reading your book and the comments on this blog leads me to believe that you’ve earnt a great deal of respect.

Keep up the good work; I sure the wait for the book will be worth every second.

I have no wise, sage-like opinions on what makes an individual stylish or if its important to be so but i thought you might like to know that you are the 6th most important man to bear the name “Patrick” according to Google search suggestions. Congrats! maybe you can write a blog about being one of the top 10 most popular Patricks.
p.s. type “Patrick” in Google and don’t press enter.

    Hey Pat!

Regarding you being fashionable, i wish that was something you could put a Rothfuss label on and sell because i would give all my worldly possesions to have your carisma, your openess and likebility, and your way with words. maybe someday you could write another book telling us your secret of Awesomeness!!:)
NOTW is the best book i have ever had the pleasure of reading…Ever!

P.S. All the best to you Sarah and Mini Pat and Sarah xx

I may be a little behind here, but I was wondering what the status was on the new book. I DON’T want to be one of those pains who continually asks, “where’s the book, where’s the bookwhere’s the book, where’s the book” and I may even be posting this in the worng place but on amazon it says the audio book will be ready may 2010. what about the actual book.

    not a pain!

Right there at the bottom of Pony’s blog is a picture, and in that picture there are many books on the shelf. One of those books we all love so much and know so well, the other however is allegedly unpublished yet there it is right behind you staring back at me all smug-like. TWMF, I can see it…almost within reach…
