Tales of Mere Existence

So a couple days ago a friend sent me a link to a video.

And I thought, “Yeah. That’s pretty much it in a nutshell.”

I’m assuming a lot of you already know about Tales of Mere Existence. But if you don’t, well, here you go.

I’ve loved Lev Yilmaz’s stuff for years. In fact, I feel a certain amount of shame that it’s taken me this long to mention him on the blog. However much attention he gets for his work, I can’t help but feel that he deserves more.

That said, I would be remiss if I failed to mention that he also has books and DVD’s and such that you can buy.

I hereby grant you permission to do nothing but watch Lev’s videos all day.

Share and Enjoy,

pat

My sincerest apologies Mister Rothfuss, this will have to wait 6-ish weeks to when I have holidays.

No, don’t work on your project, don’t wait until Holidays, do it now. You know you’ll end up staring at your college books and think “Damn I could be on blogs and such” anyway.

I’m kinda glad I stumbled upon this very video (which led to many more) a couple of weeks ago, so it won’t torment me while I’m working all day today.

Ha- I just discovered this program a few days ago, and I feel the same way.

Youtube is, by far, the best/worst way to waste time.

I just feel awesome because I ended up coming home from work and blasting Dr. Horrible for a while (because I had all of that stuck in my head all day) and then promptly started watching all of the OTHER Tales of Mere Existence I hadn’t seen yet.

If you work in IT, then you have to add. “Amount of time spent figuring out how I’m going to book the hours spent procrastinating about starting my project.”

Wow, I have now watched 3 of his videos…and they are amazing! Thank you thank you thank you for the post. That is some seriously worthwhile entertainment.

I was having a really productive day in lab until I saw your blog post. I have spent the last hour or so watching these videos, before realizing I forgot to read the rest of your post. At least some one is ok with me spending (I wouldn’t call it wasting) the rest of the day on these videos.

Oh I have spent all day not working on my project but not doing much else of use because I should have been working on my project, but at least now I know I’m not alone. I think I’ll go … work on my project.

Pat, while I feel thanks are in order for the linkerations, you are still inexcusably naughty for failing to provide them earlier. Ninja-monkeys have been dispatched to punish you and will be arriving as soon as you cease expecting them. Be well.

This reminds me of Charlie Brown’s section in the Book Report song from You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown. I always sympathize.

    If I start writing now
    When I’m not really rested
    It could upset my thinking
Which is no good at all.
I’ll get a fresh start tomorrow
And it’s not due till Wednesday
So I’ll have all of Tuesday
    Unless something should happen.
    Why does this always happen,
    I should be outside playing
    Getting fresh air and sunshine,
    I work best under pressure,
And there’ll be lots of pressure
    If I wait till tomorrow
    I should start writing now.
But I if I start writing now
    When I’m not really rested
    It could upset my thinking
    Which is
    No good at all….

I have to say, after watching a lot of those videos, “project” is still the most relatable. I felt useless just watching it. Could just be I don’t have a penis though.

Nah, I got one of those things and “What would Penis do” is still not that relatable. Maybe my penis is mute, though.

    Hey Pat!
Just wanted to wish you well and encourage you while you push to make the upcoming and important deadline on Wednesday! :-D
I can’t wait for when you can finally relax a bit and tell us all about it. :-)
I also admit I wouldn’t mind reading the final outcome so I’m glad this benchmark is finally here, woo book two! :-D

Pat . . . I severely like and dislike you right now . . . Levni is hilarious . . . but at the same time I know I’m going to end up wasting the same amount of time watching his videos as it would take to learn to drive a car or something . . .
