So I just read all the comments on the last blog. All of them. Over a thousand comments. It turns out that doing such a thing takes slightly more than three hours.
The good news is that my faith in the cleverness of my readership was definitely justified. Y’all came up with some really good names.
I’m going to share some of them with you here, partly because they deserve attention, and partly because I just spent three hours reading them, so you’re going to share this experience with me whether you want to or not….
Some of my favorites. Clear and Clever.
- Novelty
- Storytellers
- Authority
- Musings
Strong second-stringers:
- Drafted
- Fireside
- Fabula Rasa
- Penultimate (We could do a cool logo with this.)
Superlatives:
- The Craft
- The Literal Truth
- The Story Board
Those are my front runners right now. (I’ve gotta start thinking about some sort of logo, too…. Anyone out there good at graphic design?)
A lot of the other names would have been perfect… if I wanted to name a show about writing after my beard. (Though “Dr. Beard’s Sing-Along Vlog” did make me laugh a bit.)
My favorite baffling name: Sagajuice.
My favorite self-deprecating one: Prosers.
Others were clever and cool, but just wouldn’t work for one reason or another. For example, “Fabletop” was a great suggestion, but I don’t want to bite on Wheaton’s style.
Some were clever, but too focused on my books:
- Unlikely Maths
- Not Writing Like a Stupid Jackass.
- Sympathetic Words
Too suggestive:
- Full Frontal Novelty
Too referential/punny:
- Breaking Bard
- Tome Raider
- New Inklings
- Browncoats
Too foreign:
- Hwæt! (I do like this one)
- In Media Res
- Literati
Too misleading in their implication:
- Epic
- Meta
- Mythic
- Re: Writing
There were many good ones in there, but these are the ones that caught my eye or made me chuckle enough to jot them down.
I’ve got some good options now, but they’re all blurring together for me at this unseasonable hour of night.
I’m hoping the choice will be clearer to me tomorrow, after I’ve had some sleep.
Sweet dreams, everyone…

Right now, I think I like “Musings” best…..
Vote for “Musings”! It’s very clever. I love it :)
As almost all my suggestions had to do with the muses, i like “Musings” best too :-)
Right now i am very happy that we two seem to have the same mind set^^, thats cool, since i believed from the start that we could get along really well should we ever meet. same interests, same humor, and now the Muses.
Good Dreams from Germany
Well it sounds a bit like: “Hold my pipe dear sir and give me those volumes about the Wittiness of writing” .
You’d need to get a fireplace and a really comfy armchair.
I’m not against a certain elegancy but this ons is meh. Too blunt.
I’m all into the wordsmith thing, though. Would give a great logo, too.
My vote for the set: several massive leather armchairs arranged around a fireplace. Everyone has a pipe.
MUSINGS WAS MINE! YAY!!!! (Jumps up and down with Joy!) Pick it Pick it!
OK, I’m done. I know he hasn’t picked yet but the fact that mine is in the running just makes me feel a warm and fuzzy inside. Plus, I LOVE the Books Pat! And I’m not saying that to kiss ass.
Congratulations =) It was a great suggestion
Thank you. Someone else suggested “A Musing” and I think that’s pretty clever.
What about A musing?
Knowing you there will be an element of inherent comedy in anything you deliver that involves a little improv?
I think “A musing” is 10 times better than “Musings” but probably won’t fit the direction he’s trying to go here. Awesome suggestion, though. :D
Musing is one of those words like ‘pondering.’ Somehow it always feels like something you do when you don’t know what to say or how to express what you’re thinking. Since this is going to be a vlog-ish panel DISCUSSION, to call it something that implies being absorbed in thought just doesn’t fit at all. -_-
Still looking for a graphic artist? I would love to help you create your new logo.
Shoot me a message and I will send you my e-mail!
My personal favorite is storytellers. :)
I like this the best as well. It leaves you open to talk with guests other than novel writers.
Since it’s your show I’m going to watch it and love it no matter what it’s called.
I do think it’s strange to give something akin to panel-discussion a name that implies being absorbed in thought, though. Clever, but ill-fitting.
Novelty is grand. Novel Tea even better.
I actually like that Novel Tea
You guys could make it all mad hatter style – that would be sick
Okay, thats also the opinion of a girl though.
Sorry to repost, this just went in lower, but I realized Pat was already working on this and I’d hate if he missed the opportunity to do something like A-Musing…
Think about it. Thanks again for the opportunity to have us help.
I’d recommend “Prologue.”
It’s simple. Does some strong, clever things with language. Pro- and -logue (simultaneously, the words before, and a professional speaking). Naturally allows you to discuss the story-before-the-story.
I like “Musings”! I can see it now…”Hello, and welcome to Musings…For those who know, don’t know, think they know, and can only dream of knowing…it all starts here~”
How about “Tale Swappers”
Novel Musings
I like Musings too.. But I still prefer Fireside/Hearthside. Mostly because of how it will sound in a sentence.
“Who’s the new guest on Musings?”
vs.
“Who’s the new guest on Fireside?”
I’m sure that’s all lovely, but I just got done re-reading TNOTW and AWMF …. again.
PLEASE finish book 3!!!!! Are you at least CLOSE to being finished? Is it really secretly done and off to the publisher but you’re not telling us (my fantasy).
PLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEAAAAAAASE!!!!!
Hey Pat, I made this logo for your show. When you get a chance I’d love to know what you think.
http://nicktabat.files.wordpress.com/2012/07/musings.jpg
TaleCraft?
Any 30 Rock fans here? In season 1 we learn about Tracy Jordan’s literary proclivities where he says:
Fine, yes. I’m literate. I even have a column in Ebony called Musings.
You may have some competitions for that name Pat…
pat sorry this is late but how about Omniscient Narrators? sorry if it was suggested. unlike you i did not read all 1,000 comments!
Story Techs
The Literal Truth is spiffy.
I’m not sure which title evokes the idea of story writing for games and novels. I liked most of the ones you liked, but nothing really popped for me. Perhaps dawn will shed more light on the subject. In the meantime, rest well and dream of large FONTS 0_O
A rose by any other name is a strawberry.
I vote Novelty.
Seconded. That’s a bad ass name. “Musings” is good but a little weaker. “Authority” is good but a little too overbearing.
“Storytellers”, containing an “-er” indicating an agent of storytelling, is one step removed from storytelling itself and therefore really not so good. In my line of work, the world of OOP, names are important as they tell you a great deal about an Object and about the mind of the person who designed it. Trust me, avoid the “-er”‘s.
Also dont really like Authority
To much Pennywise. :)
Shamlessly riffing on your blog title today, I like “Prose by Any Other Name.”
Or you could use one of the numerous captchas I just failed at typing although, “Phyzzed Fubfifts” just doesn’t have the same ring to it.
Skidroskiseph
Honestly I’m just happy that two of my suggestions (Prosers and Tome Raider) got special mentions…
I’m sure it’ll be a great show regardless.
p.s. Final suggestion: conscripted
pps: really final suggestion: Fanning Fiction
Ok promise I’m done!
I definitely like Storytellers the most. Simple, to the point, no doubts regarding what’ll be about and I tell you this: it has a certain sexyness to it :D
My vote is for Storytellers. It is general to include any format, implies multiple participants, and informative.
This is a good name but I dont like it for one reason –
Jim Henson named a show he did Storytellers
I watched it on Netflix. It’s probably nothing really in connection with what Pat is doing, but I think he should have an original name to his show.
Henson’s series was, “The Storyteller.”
So it’s a little different.
And a damn fine show it was.
ah…yah thats a little different. Been awhile since I watched it.
Good show indeed though –
There was also a show with famous musicians playing small venues and telling stories about their music called “VH1 Storytellers.”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VH1_Storytellers
I also like Storytellers (but I’m biased).
Idle Chatter.
That’s what came to my mind.
I’m a big fan of “Novelty”
I think “Musings” sounds a bit too vague.
I agree.
I immediately loved Novelty, I thought that was very clever but then I tried really imagining it as the Name… and it I don’t think it works. Penultimate is definitely epic sounding, it’s even epic looking but I legitimately think Sagajuice works best. It even looks aesthetically appealing somehow, something about the ‘g’.
=[ How do you stop italics and bold?
‘Name’ was supposed to be the only word italicised and ‘looking’ the only one bolded.
You put in an end tag. Let’s see if I can put one in with out its being translated: First . Otherwise it doesn’t know where to end it.
I wasn’t SO keen on the front runners – they are clever and quick, but all sound kind of generic out of context, to my ear. But it’s not my show. Out of context, Fabula Rasa seems like the only one that would be immediately mapped to this show, in that it wouldn’t have other meanings getting in the way. Actually, I like Story Board a lot too.
Curses – it got rid of all my instructions about html. Let’s see if I can find end tag instruction online somewhere. . .here, this says how tags come in pairs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML
So you’d do /i and /b, within the brackets.
I’m just really not a fan of Fabula Rasa for some reason. I guess it has too many connotations of Tabula Rasa for me–the game.
I must admit that the minds behind the game are pretty interesting, though.
There is also, oddly, a band named Fabula. >.>
i loved novelty the first time i read it, and i’m glad to see it’s one of your faves. but i also quite like the literal truth. they’re both fun and clever.
Somehow I missed the last blog post. I just threw a new suggestion up over there, but I’ll do it here too for the heck of it.
The Epilogue
Quite flattered to get a special mention (Not Writing Like A Stupid Jackass), thank you.
Of the top contenders, I’m torn between the punnyness of “Musings” and “Authority”. I think “Authority” sounds more direct about the subject. “Musings” is more playfully vague.
I really like “Prosers”.
This came to me in a heartbeat of creativity.
“The Wordsmith’s Shop”
… and in my mind, I see a silhouette of a man with a smithy hammer about to strike a pen into shape. I, unlike you, Pat, did not take the time to read all 3,000 entries, so if this has been said, please, by all means, disregard.
Otherwise, some variable of that term stands out; The Wordsmith’s Anvil? Hell, I dunno, it’s 5 AM and I’m still awake. If I keep brainstorming, anything that follows will likely end up as vocal diarrhea.
I dont even know what musing means. And I dont care.
I just cant help but laugh at the fact that he has been reading comments for 3 hours. Sorry. Happy :D Face
I Visited the Comment Section and All I Got Was This Lousy Title.
Of course I’m partial to Novelty, but I think any of the other names are great too. Whatever you pick will suit the show, because.. well. The name forms the show, right? ;)
That being said; I do graphics work, and I’d be happy to throw my hat in and help even if it is just on a brainstorming level. You’ve already got a pretty talented graphics guy in your back pocket, though!
Thats what I was thinking!
Nate’s not designing the graphic for your show?! WTH?
I just found out that Nate’s moving this weekend. He might still be able to help, but I’m not sure he’ll have the time….
Plus logo design is different than illustration. Good logos are really hard to come up with. I wouldn’t be surprised if we went through several before we landed on a permanent one…
That would explain it, then. Moving is a
bitch. Wait, can I say that here? hrm. *goes back and edits*Anywho.
You COULD have an illustrated logo by Nate. It would suit the rest of your image with The Tinker’s Packs and the things he’s done for you for Facebook and all over the website. And The Guild’s logo is an illustration, too. So there’s that.
In any event, I wasn’t joking before. I’d be happy to help brainstorming and with working up some ideas for the various names. I am fairly certain that my name links back to my website where I post things when I remember to post them, but I’d be happy to gather up other work.
Moving does suck! But it’s also about the only time you get to actually inventory what kind of a crap you’ve collected…
(Yah I like to try and think of positive sides to things I really loathe doing LOL)
Anywho – I guess thats a good excuse…but I do really enjoy his artwork, always looks so sleek.
It would be cool to see a few of your logo choices when you get to that point…although that might lead to another 1000 comments.
Speaking of too referential, I’m glad I didn’t offer this one:
The Wise Man’s Peers
Too late I know but forgot to post this one earlier,
‘Mostly Narrative’
Personal front runner at the moment has to be ‘Novelty’
Talegate
Penners and Tellers :o
I really love Penners and Tellers, but would suggest shortening it to
Pens and Tellers
You have the magical connotation with it being far enough away from the intrepid duo to avoid controversy/lawsuits.
Just my two cents worth….
Still like mine Regale Me, but those are some good candidates you’ve compiled.
I’d totally do some free graphic design for you! Your books (and blog) have given me plenty of hours of pleasure and it would be neat to be able to say thanks in a more personal way :) My website is paulduffield.co.uk
I’m partial to “Not Writing Like a Stupid Jackass” sure it’s referential but it’s also a universal theme. I’m pretty sure I fall into the writing like a stupid jackass category. I’ll have to work on that.
“Novelty” is my favorite or maybe “The Story Board”
So many great names, really I love them all! I don’t envy you having to choose just one.
I know this one is late to the game, but I feel obligated to provide you with the best advice possible before you officially settle on a name. How about…
Yarn Spinners 2: The Reckoning
The beauty in this is that not many people are bold enough to start things off with a sequel. The majority opinion would also easily gravitate toward the notion that the sequel is far better than the original, which is kind of rare and brag-worthy.
What about “The Patdown”? Too invasive?
Okay, that one made me laugh!
I love Novelty and Authority – they clearly get the point across as to what the show will be about (even to lay-people) and are clever! High fives to whoever thought of them.
I have to admit I like “The Story Board” best. Obviously, a story board is what movie makers use to plot out their stories, so the reference to story telling is clear. However, it could also be interpreted as as board of members, the board of story tellers, the story board. I like the way you can play with its meaning.
I’d be much more likely to watch a show called ‘Prosers’ than one called ‘Musings’, just based on the title. ‘Prosers’ shows a sense of humor. ‘Musings’ is simply clever.
If it matters, Penultimate is an app on Apple.
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/penultimate/id354098826?mt=8
I have a feeling it matters
glad full frontal novelty gave you a grin. I like Novely or Musings.
You should get two ferns for the set and sit between them. Just once…
I like “Fabula Rasa”. It sounds so foreign and mysterious. It really roles off the tongue. There are so many ways you can say it.
1) Writer’s Block. 2) Scribe’s Quest.
Sorry, I missed the last blog :/
I do like Scribe’s Quest.
I love Novelty and Authority, genius ones! Very concise and have great impact, at least for me.
As the Fabula Rasa suggester, I have to say that Novelty is much better and cleverer and also was first in the gate. Though I understand you said that you’d be talking about all sorts of stories, not just novels.
Musings is a little too introspective… Authority a little too forceful.
For some reason I really like Penultimate. It has a presence to it that would be a good foil for your beard, sir.
I agree with you on Musings (too introspective) and Authority (too forceful).
I really liked Fabula Rasa, Novelty and Penultimate, though.
I’m really flattered by being mentioned. (“Story Board”) If i were any good at art, or had any time this week, I would come up with some fantastic logo to give me an edge
Personally I’d combine two of your favorites to make: “Novel Authority”
I like the sound of Novelty, although The Literal Truth is probably my personal favourite; it just sounds more show-y! It helps to say it out loud a few times as Musings looks good on paper (or on a computer screen if you want to get all technical) but sounds kind of stilted when spoken conversationally.
But hey, I’ll be tuning in no matter what the name!
I do graphic design. Just off the cuff – :-)
Total smiley faced.
Also: ‘Bardenters’… Standard consonant swap.
Like someone above me said, I didn’t read all of the comments on the last blog so this could have been said already.
What about “WordPlay”
And you spending the time to read all of those is pretty awesome, Pat.
Who has two thumbs and does graphic design?
This guy.
Where do we send samples of work/plaintive cries of desire to work for you? Because I’m on this like stink on a monkey.
*laughing* You know…
I don’t think “like stink on a monkey” is the best way to get your foot in the door. Might just be me, though… ;-)
You liked Authority… What about Austority? Haha, get it? :D
I’m thrilled to have gotten a special mention for my “Re: writing”!
I realized that it was too much a writing reference and not so much a story reference but “Re: story:” didn’t work.
In discussing this topic with my wife, she suggested “#story” as a geeky way of saying that it is related to story telling.
What about combining a couple?
RE:drafted
The Novel Truth (T.N.T.)
Fireside Musings
StoryCraft
I like the last one…
And yes, thats awesome you spent time reading all those comments
I think its pretty awesome we all get to contribute to the show, to me I think I will like it even better knowing that we all helped you out with picking the name and now helping a bit with the graphic.
Thanks for including us Pat! This is pretty fun and I’m excited to see what comes next. When is the air date of this awesomeness again?
As excited as I am to see your show, I would LOVE to see you play a game on Tabletop! I hope having your own show on Geek & Sundry may help pave the way to that epic day.
Congratulations to the name-suggesting frontrunners.
I admit I’ve also been dreaming of this. I think he’d actually have to go to California to do it, though. Maybe when he’s there for a convention some time…
Novelty and Authority don’t have a lot of zing. (Welcome to Authority with Pat Rothfuss.) Plus you said you didn’t want to cover just novels. The title needs to be quirky like you and not to academic.
Penultimate it’s nice and could be spelled, Pen Ultimate to avoid copyright issues.
Just thought of Pen Sieve or Pat’s Pen Sieve, Where Ideas are Sorted Out.
I’m on a roll. How about: Twisted Tale or Winnowing
Also Musing needs another word like Musing Moments or Merry Musing. It’s not the title of a piece of work. It’s the name of a period of time. You’ll want to test your name by saying, Welcome to ….. or It’s time for …..
You should get your homie who does all your little cartoons to do your logo (not that the fans wouldn’t do a great job), because they’re awesome, and Lo! the blog readers would go “Squee.” Maybe. I like his stuff. It’s logoworthy.
In order, my top three from those listed are The Literal Truth, Novelty, and The Craft.
The Craft makes me think of that movie from the 90’s
Ya know – chicks who do witchcraft or some crap like that….
Yah havent watched it in a while, not really my genre.
Seconded
Before you choose ‘Musings”, be aware that Peggy Hill used that for her newspaper article on King of the Hill…
Alright I know its maybe a little late, The Roth has already made some clear choices in narrowing down his list but I have to add in one other whether it makes it or not.
A-Muse, because we all know anything that Pat puts his mind to is going to be funny as hell while also being relevant to the topic.
ps- it was cool to see In Media Res on there even if it didn’t make the final list.
I like Musings and Novelty. I also like Drafted.
Some other ideas:
The Pub (Date)
The Campfire
(Un)Edited
Off the Page
The Tell
I had to look up Fabula Rasa – since I was interested in what the hell that could mean.
Apperantly this is an online RPG group? Am I totally lost or what?
And that’s why Latin names don’t work as good titles, folks….
No shit – I never would have found out Fabula was latin for Story if you hadnt thrown that hint out.
Dead language indeed. Google doesnt even know what I’m talking about.
But on another note…now that I know that…I actually really like this name LOL. :)
Sounds like a slightly camp blank slate to me. A pink slate maybe?
Agreed, but they do work as nice stepping stones to other, better ideas.
Out of the ones that are up there I like Novelty.
But wasn’t “Storytellers” “Storytailors“??
Or were their both? If there were, I vote for Storytailors, because this will be a show about the craft of storytelling, correct? So it’s not just about telling various stories, but how to make them–tailor them if you will.
So my super vote goes to Storytailors, but if that doesn’t go, then Novelty.
But I really really love Storytailors on so many levels.
I feel it’s perfect. The others have pizazz and are fun, but this one seems to fit.
To quote this really awesome other I’ve read:
“The name didn’t fit like a glove. It fit like a skin. More than that. It was bone and muscle and movement. ”
;)
author**
It’s right on the tip of your brain because it’s already there, hiding behind two of the other suggestions. It’s:
The Draft
I think, given the ones you chose, my favorite really is:
Storytellers
My second favorites were:
Penultimate
Musings
Also, I miss Jim Henson. :-(
“It’s time to play the music.”
“It’s time to light the lights.”
The stupid jackass line has to be the tagline.
Novelty: A monthly chat about not writing like a stupid jackass.
+1
Love the idea of having a tag line, no matter what it says.
But that might be rough on the logo. :/
Doesn’t have to be in the logo.
I mean I understand you point, but we could just leave it out of the logo, yes?
Hey Pat, I noticed you asked about logos. I make logos professionally for a living, and have won a few national awards for them. I’ve even got a few published in nice big coffee table books like the “Letterhead and Logo Design” series from Rockport. I’d be honored beyond words to lovingly craft a logo/brand package for your show, and, of course, I’d do it gratis. I work very quickly, and can generate a large selection of different ideas after doing some discovery questions with you about the personality of the show. You can see some examples of my work at the following link: http://joesportfolio.net/?page_id=58
I’ve done many more logos than I can show on my site (recently redoing all 270+ niche site logos for hayneedle.com). If you want more examples of my work, I’d be happy to send them along. Just let me know. All my contact info, including phone and email, are available on my website: joesportfolio.net
Thanks for all you do.
– Joe Szczepaniak
Joe,
I really like you more clean cut logos!
I think my most favorite one is the “H.R. Poppin Snacks” (=
It pops really well. I love the two tones and how it’s all incorporated in one unit (if I’m even saying that right. What would you call that?) .
I think they’re all really good names and it was fun being part of the 1000+ commenters.
For what it’s worth, I like Storytellers the best.
I really like Novelty as well but it seems too inclusive unless you would say something like “Novelty and.. Or Novelty +… Or Novelty&Story…
I don’t know Pat, I think you’ll make a great choice.
I meant Exclusive rather than Inclusive.
Sorry was in a hurry and didn’t fully engage brain.
I know it is a bit late but here is my suggestion for the name:
The Den
Pat,
I’m a Graphic Designer in Appleton. If you’d like, I’d be happy to help with the logo. If you’d like to see some of my work, I can send you some things from my portfolio.
Jake
“Bloviate, Me?” (late entry – my company blocks access to your site on my work computer)
What about
Be Told! with Patrick Rothfuss
?
Hallo Pat! I would also like to help you with the logo. I know I’m not the first but you surely want to have as many logos to choose from as you have names now ;-)
Here are some simplistic pictures I made for my dog’s blog (well, the official version is that he made them himself):
http://derschwarzehund.blogspot.co.at/search/label/Zeichnungen
And here are some acryl pictures:
http://julialedersberger.blogspot.co.at/search/label/Malerei
That’s all I have to show for now. Of course, there is a lot to talk about the logo before I can start with them, so if you are interested you can send me an e-mail: [email protected]
Dietl
This is not meant as bitter, only suggestive but:
•Novelty
•Storytellers
•Authority
•Musings
These just seem so plain, so vanilla, and which conflicts with the beautifully unique names in your books. But who am I kidding, you’re an incredible author who has written two amazing books which have a concentric point of naming within them so what do I know? Either way,if that’s what you’re going for, then so be it. I’ll tune in regardless of what you name it.
How about:
This is what I’m doing instead of finishing book 3.
:)
How about no.
Book three will take as long as it takes. I think it’s cool we’re getting some stuff from Pat in the meantime.
Agreed.
Besides, you can only squeeze out so much creativity at a time. Sometimes doing different things (such as this) actually help you come up with new ideas and solve that gosh-darned-plot-problem that’s been staring you in the face for a week.
Book 3 will be done when it’s done. To borrow from the great Neil Gaiman, Pat Rothfuss is not your bitch.
My vote is for “Storyboard.”
Similar to “The Story Board,” it has so much more meaning in, I think, a great way–storyboards being used by directors, creators, etc for over 80 years to visualize the story they want to tell. (It may, however, have too much bias toward movies.)
I like “Novelty” and “Musings” as well, though they don’t exactly give a definition of what the show will be about. If C.S. Lewis wouldn’t object, you could always tip your hat to his excellent essay and call it “On Stories.”
I can’t wait to watch the show, whate’er name it hath!
I’m honored that my suggestion made the list of mentionables! But, my word, “Fireside” is about as close to perfect as it gets. It evokes so much imagery…I wish that it had been my suggestion!
Not to second-guess you, Pat, but “Fireside” gets my vote.
These are my top three (1 being the highest):
1. Authority
2. Novelty
3. Fireside
Howdy, I could do graphic artistry if you need it ” ), and definitely go with Musings!!!
I am wondering why you can’t have one main name for the show then have a separate name each week for the chapter or episode. This way you would be able to use a lot of the suggestions including several of the very funny ones.
On another note separate from the name of the show, would this be closed captioned? I am deaf and cannot hear. I miss all the good stuff because of it…
I think the best is “Musings” don’t know exactly why. I think it’s a funny word and somehow it reminds me of cheese and alternate dimensions, and then more cheese…
And allow me to suggest that the first episode should be about the “writer’s den” (I really don’t know what I’m writing because I’m spanish xD). And the reason for that is… I don’t know, I think it’s interesting to know how/where other writers work. I myself need to be in some place dark with some cereal and my bass (although I don’t use it to write) and two 2D10 (I know it’s stupid but I like to think that’s intelligent… stupelligent…). Oh and also background music (very low) like secret garden or something similar.
I just want tomake clear that I’m crazy. Thanks for reading and cheese for everyone.
My brother’s a graphic designer at a firm in memphis, tn. He’s done stuff for FedEx and a bunch of other cool companies. I’m sure he could hook you up!
I still like my name, “Stories Ink”. As in Stories Inc(corporated)
Ah well.
It’s a shame I didn’t see the previous post, but I’ll throw a name up there anyways.
Novel Concepts
Good luck choosing a name!
Pat, I didn’t realise you’d have guests on the show. Now that I know, it’s obvious the show should be called “Taleheads” :o
I have to vote for Authority, as it was my suggestion. *does a happy scrappy puppy dance* I really like Novelty too, though. And Prosers made me chuckle.
Imaginate ?
Yo,
here are some images I made for Your logo ideas
http://lonetome.wordpress.com/
How about?
Orality – (since you are “talking” about stories)
Talecraft – (kinda lame, and probably already suggested but I didn’t read through all the suggestions)
EOS – (this one is a little deep, Titaness, Goddess of the “rosy-fingered dawn”…one of Bates’ writing formulas, the “light-bringer” which evokes learning/education..sounds sci-fi AND mythological at the same time, you could make a backronym out of it “E____ On Storytelling”, “Everything Other than Storytelling”…whatever.)
-j
ps: you are the best writer I’ve read in a long time….thanks.
I am stupid excited … STUPID excited about this project of yours. I have spent hours on youtube watching the panels at conventions and I love them. I’m especially excited that you are tackling this.
Possible Names:
Between the Binding**
Storyology
Storysmith
The Storypress
** That one is my favorite…
Thanks for doing this!!!
My apologies if someone already suggested this. I’m not going to spend three hours reading thousands of comments.

Where should we send our logo ideas?
Hi, i think ‘Prosers’ is pure genius
So – went ahead and watched a bunch of shit on Geek and Sundry this weekend since I hadnt really taken much time to check it out yet.
After watching all that I liked Felicia’s “The Flog” best. Almost every episode was hilarious. The only ones I didnt care much for were the Con episodes, but thats mostly because I like the videos that center on her doing some “Skill Set” – aside from that – the intro is a winner. :)
Anyway – this led to me thinking the best name for your show would be Fireside. (At least of the posted choices)
Seemed like it would fit in best with the other shows at least in my opinion.
Which leads to my next question of are you going to design a whole intro to your show w/ music and all similar to what some of the other shows have?
Sorry, I missed the last post. Some of my suggestions are:
Fable’s Realm
Lore of Fables
Anything with “fable” in it, really.
I like “Musings” and I like jamming things I like together, so…
“Fabled Musings”
My modest contribution ‘Letterheads’.
I am totally too late to this party, but I think “StoryHour” would be hilarious because you could undertitle it “with uncle Pat” next to a photo with your face (you are probably too young for sth. like this, but your beard would let you pull it off).
I thought I share this idea, since it made me smile when I thought of it.
Hi!
I made some rough sketches for the logo. Of course they are not perfect and the name must be changed according to what the show will be called.
My fiancée allowed me to make a guest-post on her blog ;-)
Especially the second one is pretty badass *gg*

Did anyone suggest Inkling?
There’s a weekly column on http://www.massively.com called “Storyboard” about role playing in MMOs and the like. Just a mention.
Love Wordsmith and all its derivates.
For logo design, you may want to check out some of the design crowdsourcing sites, the two i’ve tried are http://www.crowdspring.com and http://www.99designs.com
These sites could also act as a channel for your fans to show their creativity and “compete” in a much more organized way, since anyone can register as a designer.

I can’t get over how awesome your fans are, Pat. The creativity both here and in the photo contest, the way people pitched in to get Jenny her phone back. It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside! I’m proud to be a member of such an awesome group.
As far as the title goes, it didn’t make your list, but I’m still holding out for “Between the Covers with Pat Rothfuss.” :-D
