Sharing some awesome….

Okay. I’m back from ComicCon, and I have stories to tell.

Unfortunately, I also have a backlog of about 800 e-mails to slog through. Many of them involving serious business-type things that I should really attend to sooner rather than later.

Rest assured that I’ll be sharing some of the stories here on the blog. Probably tomorrow.

But for now, if you’re perishing for lack of awesome geekery, watch this:

That should tide you over for a while….

Share and Enjoy.

I want to watch this so bad it hurts… THANK YOU Mr. Rothfuss for bringing it to my attention.

(And you know, the books and stuff…)

I hear you. I really want to watch it. Right NOW.

I want to see it, and on some level I know that no matter how bad it is I will love it, but it actually looks like it will be awesome all around.

I really, really hope this will be shown n Germany or Austria, I’d definitely go to watch it (even if I have to go alone)!

Oh wow. That is, indeed, awesome!

So let me recap the list of actors in this movie :

    1) Tyrion Lannister
    2) Jason Stackhouse
    3) River Tam / Bennett Halverson / Ballerina
    4) Lisa P
    5) Mounty the Mouse / Duncan
    6) And finally the less known Zorgon / Long Face Bar Alien. I really like him.

That’s almost to much awesome put together.
Maybe all of our eyeballs will all pop out while watching it. Only time will tell.

Also, I think that no movie can be perfect without at least one dwarf in it (The Lord of the Rings, anybody ?) And the girls, ouchh ! :)

The only thing missing to make my life complete would be Numfar and Winifred. Alas, this world is not perfect, and so nothing can be. :(

Anyway, thanks a lot for sharing this with us. That’s one more movie to add to my to-watch list.

Any idea (other than soon) when this bad-assery is going to be in theaters?

    • Posted July 28, 2011 at 3:06 PM | Permalink

I was talking to one of the assistant editors yesterday and the gist I got from him was there’s no definite release date due to a lot of unfinished effects shots and some budget problems that will hopefully be ameliorated due to interest generated at Comic-Con. The biggest surprise for me (aside from the fact that I inexplicably know one of the assistant editors), is that this is a North by Northwest production that doesn’t look absolutely dreadful!

Looks sweet. Gotta love Steve Zahn. Ever since Saving Silverman he’s been an actor I always enjoy seeing. Also have to love Dinkelage basically paroding his other work.

Oh Fun! I watched the trailer and my husband is leaning over to see and he starts quoting “if there’s girls there, I want to doooo them!” Then he realized it might be a real movie. Looks like a great excuse to eat greasy popcorn!

I am speechless. I watched the entire thing with my jaw dropped to my chest. It’s Army of Darkness with LARPing. Holy shit. With Peter Dinklage and Jimmi Simpson and Steve Zahn and Summer Glau and….I need to go rest for a minute.

@tetlowgm Haha, hilarious. And seriously, I would probably watch that. This Knights of Badassdom trailer looks fantastic. Saw the preview from the comic-con coverage and have been pimping it around as well. Glad to see Pat and everyone here feeling the same vibe.

I was a part of a similar group called “Belegarth” for about 10 years, on and off. We didn’t do much role play, although it was encouraged, but we focused on the combat aspect of it. There were no spells involved whatsoever. Just swords, shields, axes, archers and so on. It was a blast and I recommend anyone to try that out at least once in their life. It is really amazing to see a large group of guys and girls together that actually know how to use weapons and fight in structured pitch battles. These movies tend to lean towards the Ampguard and Nero side of things more than Belegarth and Dagorhir, which is another medieval wargaming larp exactly like Belegarth. Of course it isn’t comical to watch guys really brutalize each other as much as it is to watch guys act like they are throwing spells at each other.

If you’ve never seen it I recommend you give Dorkness Rising a watch to tide you over. It is an indie comedy that D&D players (old and new) would probably enjoy. Awhile back Netflix had it on instant viewing.

I laughed quite a bit watching it, reminded me of my gaming youth.

After watching that trailer, I had an idea that Summer Glau plays the same character(River Tam) in this movie as she did in Firefly and (especially) Serenity. Most of the time she seems distracted and flighty, (acting as tho she is still in the Serenity, making Firefly and Serenity specific comments regardless of what plot is going on in the movie.) but when there is fighting to be done she takes care of business. I know that is just a ‘fanboy’ pipe dream, but still it would be frickin’ hilarious!

Right so I know it’s a bit late to post on this particular Blog entry, but I think that a lot of you might enjoy this as well. During my high school chess club meetings we tended to chat about this more than we would about chess, but that’s becuase this is basically awesome. Enough said.
